- RBALSARI1Mumbai, India12 contributionsThis is one of the oldest temples in the region built by the Kalinga empire, dating back to the 10th Century. It is very well maintained and a must visit place in Bhubaneshwar. There are around 108 temples in the complex. One needs to leave their footwear and mobiles at the counter. They charge a nominal fee of Rs. 5/- per item, but it is very safe. After visiting the temple, do not forget to visit the temple viewing platform located on Rath Road, from where one can view the entire temple premises.Written 6 May 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Sur15 contributionsThe Mukteshwar Temple in Bhubaneswar is a stunning testament to ancient Indian architecture, renowned for its intricate carvings, majestic spire, and spiritual significance. Built in the 10th century during the reign of the Somavamsi dynasty, this temple is a masterpiece of Kalinga architecture, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the region.
Despite being more than a millennium old, the Mukteshwar Temple remains remarkably well-preserved, thanks to ongoing conservation efforts by archaeological authorities. It continues to attract devotees, scholars, and tourists from around the world, who come to marvel at its architectural splendor and spiritual significance.Written 17 May 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Ananya ShwetaMumbai, India119 contributionsWe took a early morning flight to morning to Bhubaneswar. After landing we took a cab to the Dhauli Giri Hills. This was Day 1 of our Odisha trip.
It is a calm and best place for meditating in the morning. The sculpture showed the some moments of lord Buddha's daily life. The architecture is beautiful and simple. The place is well maintained. There is a temple of lord Shiva behind this.
It took us less than half an hour to reach from the airport early morning at 8 am ~ and we spent almost an hour there post which we continued on our car ride towards Puri via Pipli village where we saw some really nice handicrafts.Written 16 April 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Voyager_Nineteen71Pune, India571 contributionsWe went to these caves on an evening and it was extremely crowded. The caves are very old and there is quite some history to this place. There is a temple at the top of the caves. - Lost TravellerWarsaw, Poland331 contributionsBhubaneswar is called as temple city, but this place usually skipped from most of those "main stream" lists..
<10 km from railway station and at outskirt of city - can use city cycle facility to come ! few from 64 idols are missing, but nevertheless you can find some unique here, no roof temple, un-common idols like one leg lord shiva, and city view from wall - all far from noise, pollution and tourist traps..Written 30 November 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
