Summary

  • Kathyn Newton calls Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania the easiest job of her life.
  • The third Ant-Man movie was controversial.
  • Cassie Lang's MCU future should include a major team role.

One of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania's stars comments on her singular experience making the Marvel Cinematic Universe movie. The project was crucial to the MCU's Multiverse Saga, as Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania's cast included Jonathan Majors' first appearance as Kang the Conqueror. However, the villain ended up being defeated too easily, with CGI and story problems also helping make Quantumania one of the MCU's most controversial recent releases. Now, an MCU newcomer in the film comments on what it was like to shoot the movie.

Speaking to CinePOP, Cassie Lang actress Kathryn Newton called Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania the easiest job of her life. The actress was asked about which movie between the horror flick Abigail and the third Ant-Man was more challenging to work on. According to Newton, working on Quantumania was fun, and Abigail was harder due to the actress having to act against real sets and actors instead of green screen like in the MCU movie. The overuse of CGI was one of the most criticized aspects among Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania reviews. Check out the full quote below:

“I think the Marvel movie, actually. But I don't know... This was, physically, actually harder than Ant-Man. Ant-Man was the easiest job of my life. It was really fun... And this one was just as fun, but it was different. We had a real set, we had real props, real people. So whatever inspiration you get is from what's happening right in front of you and I didn't have to make it up, there was no green screen. And that was much more freeing than I was prepared for.”

Where Kathryn Newton’s Cassie Lang Could Return After Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania

An MCU Team Is In Her Future

Another Ant-Man movie seems unlikely for a couple of reasons. Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania became the lowest-grossing film in the hero's trilogy, which was a major disappointment. Adding to that, Marvel Studios is now focusing on sequels to its biggest franchises and characters, which makes another solo entry for Paul Rudd's Ant-Man unlikely. However, that does not mean that characters like Scott Lang, Cassie Lang, and Hope van Dyne have no future in the MCU.

Given their experience against Kang the Conqueror, the Ant-Man family could play a key role in the MCU. Of the two upcoming Avengers movies, at least 2026's Avengers: The Kang Dynasty should focus on the Council of Kangs. As they beat one of his variants, Scott, Cassie, and the others would make for a great addition to the film. While her chances of showing up in the next Avengers movie are good, Newton's Cassie Lang has an even better shot of being part of another version of Earth's Mightiest Heroes altogether.

At the end of The Marvels, Ms. Marvel appears in the shadows in the best Nick Fury style to recruit Kate Bishop for a team she was forming. Kamala Khan mentioned recruiting "Ant-Man's daughter," implying Cassie was the next candidate for the team. The MCU has been introducing many young heroes in the past few years, which should lead to the rumored Young Avengers project before the Multiverse Saga is over. After her MCU debut, Newton could come back as Cassie Lang and play an even bigger role among the team than she did in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.
