Mark Hamill's directorial debut and even today his only directed film. Is it bad? Yes and no, but mostly yes.
The premise is not so stupid. A comic book lover is hired as an advisor when a film company has to make an adaptation of his beloved comic book: Commander Courage, but panic arises when he realizes that the film company intends to change pretty much everything that the comic book stands for.
There is potential for good comedy, but this is where the problems begin. There is no budget. The entire film feels filmed for $ 100 and the script feels written on a napkin. Much of the film's content feels improvised and many scenes fall flat. It's never particularly funny.
One can ask oneself whether the film is a love tribute to the nerd culture or if it is a big middle finger. Either way, Comic Book: The Movie is a waste of potential.
