Ben Johnson to reject final West Ham offer amid Rangers hunt

Ben Johnson ready to reject West Ham amid Rangers free transfer development

Rangers transfer target Ben Johnson is set to snub a final contract offer at West Ham United, according to the Sunday Mirror.

The newspaper reported via their print edition on 12 May (page 49) that Johnson, 24, has already turned down new contract offers at the London Stadium but with David Moyes set to leave the Hammers, another effort has been made to tie the right-back down.

However, it is understood that amid interest from Rangers, Leeds and Wolves, Johnson has decided that he doesn’t want to stay in East London and will seek a free transfer in the summer.

Rangers deal to sign James Tavernier replacement in the offing?

Philippe Clement should be looking to overhaul the Rangers squad in the summer transfer window because if anything has been proven in the last few weeks, it’s those who have been at Ibrox the longest have been the biggest letdowns.

John Lundstram’s horror show against Celtic on Saturday (11 May) typifies that but the likes of Borna Barisic, Connor Goldson, Ryan Jack and James Tavernier all need to be looked at this summer, as well as the not-so-silky Scouser.

Tavernier has already been linked with a move to Saudi Arabia [Daily Record] and although he’s broken goalscoring records in his time at Ibrox, they’re welcome to him.

Tavernier has always been a heart attack waiting to happen in the defence while his goals will no doubt be replaced. Remember, he’s scored a lot of them from the penalty spot and Rangers should continue to win spot-kicks without the former Newcastle right-back in their side.

It’s a time to get rid of the old and move into the new and luckily in Clement, the Gers have someone who can who should be able to oversee the major change.

In other Rangers news, the SPFL have agreed a “lucrative” deal after major pressure from Ibrox.
