Biografía

13 de julio de 1779: "natural de la villa de Sinaloa, hijo legítimo de Francisco Pereda y Arce, su madre Rosa López, del obispado de Durango. Sabe leer, menos escribir, sus padres ya difuntos, y juro ser Católico Romano...y tiene trienta y nueve años de edad, pelo negro, nariz larga y gruesa, cara larga, color blanco rosado, de largo de mas de dos varas"[1]

Sebastian Constantino (Arce) de Arce was born in Mexico.

Sebastián Constantino de Arce was born in 1736 in Villa De Sinaloa, Sinaloa, Mexico (priorly New Spain).[3] He was the son of Francisco de Peredea y Arce and Rosa Lopez.[3]

Sebastián married first to Josefa Rafaela Espinosa.[3]

It is said Sebastián went to Alta California in 1769 and on to Monterey in 1770.[3]

Sebastián married a second time to Francisca Velázquez.[3] They had at least seven children.

Research Notes

The catalog on FamilySearch only covers the Sinaloa parish registers from 1852-1968. If you go up a level, it covers 1671-1968 but that doesn't hold earlier records for the parish of Sinaloa. Marriage records start in 1871. (Silva-1055 13:50, 12 May 2023 (UTC))

Sebastián Constantino de Arce Born c. 1736 at Villa de Sinaloa [AHBCS, Político, doc. 30], died 1795 at La Purísima de Cadegomó [La Purísima Burials #666] ( Josefa Rafaela Espinosa, Francisca Velázquez). Enlisted at the Presidio of Loreto in 1759. Went to Alta California in 1769 and on to Monterey in 1770. Assigned to the troop of frontier guards serving under Alférez José Velázquez (who was also Arce's father-in-law) from about 1773 to 1781. Mayordomo at Mulegé and La Purísima until his death. Brother of José Gabriel de Arce (q.v.). Semi-literate. [Crosby]
