The Blue Devils have lost 10 key contributing players since the final buzzer of the Elite Eight loss to NC State for a variety of reasons. All-American Kyle Filipowski and star freshman Jared McCain are both headed for the NBA, center Ryan Young used up the last of his eligibility, and seven players hit the transfer portal.
While that paragraph sounds doom and gloom, there’s lots of buzz and optimism in Durham. The Blue Devils welcome six top-50 freshmen in the 2024 recruiting class, including Cooper Flagg, the projected No. 1 pick in the 2025 NBA draft. Head coach Jon Scheyer managed to land a handful of transfers thus far, too, with a few more openings left to play with.
