PC GAME PASS & MICROSOFT STORE FAQS

Does GeForce NOW support both PC Game Pass and individual game purchases from the Microsoft Store? What’s the difference?
GeForce NOW supports Xbox PC Game Pass and the Microsoft Store.
  • Members who have an active subscription to Xbox PC Game Pass or Game Pass Ultimate will have access to all games that have been released on GeForce NOW.
  • Members can also stream individual purchases from the Microsoft Store that are supported on GeForce NOW.

Xbox PC Game Pass lets you play hundreds of high-quality PC games with friends including new day one titles. With games added all the time, you always have something new to play. Microsoft Store lets you purchase full games directly from Microsoft that you can play even if the games are not on Xbox PC Game Pass.

Look for supported Xbox PC Game Pass games and Microsoft Store games in our app that now list “Xbox” as a store.

If a game leaves Xbox PC Game Pass, can I still play it on GeForce NOW?
Most games that leave Xbox PC Game Pass become available for purchase from the Microsoft Store.  GeForce NOW members can purchase the game from the Microsoft Store and can continue to play the game on GeForce NOW.  Or users can purchase the game from another supported store like Steam or Epic Games.

Which store do I use to play Xbox PC Game Pass or Microsoft Store games?
Look for supported Xbox PC Game Pass titles and Microsoft Store games in our app that now list “Xbox” as a store in the game details.

How do I find supported Xbox PC Game Pass titles or Microsoft Store games?
You can find Xbox games by searching for “Xbox” in the GeForce NOW search bar or by using the in-app filter to check for “Xbox” Digital Store.

Why are some games available on stores like Steam but not on Xbox PC Game Pass or the Microsoft Store?
NVIDIA and Microsoft are working together to bring Xbox PC Game Pass titles and Microsoft Store games to GeForce NOW. Each game on GeForce NOW needs to be onboarded and tested to ensure members can stream them without any issues, and it can sometimes take a little longer to onboard them across all supported platforms.

Will all future Xbox PC Game Pass titles be available on GeForce NOW the same day as PC?
Our goal is to always release games the same day they become available on any digital store. We will do our best to bring games to GeForce NOW the same day they become available on Xbox PC Game Pass. Some games may take a little longer to launch on GeForce NOW.

Are PC Game Pass titles still being added on a game by game basis?
Yes, each game on GeForce NOW needs to be onboarded and tested to ensure members can stream them without any issues. We launch new games each week, so be sure to check our GFN Thursday Blog for new game announcements.

Why do I need to login to my Xbox Account every time when I play games on GeForce NOW?
We currently do not support saving your Xbox Account username or password on GeForce NOW. We will look to fix this in the future.  We recommend switching to the Microsoft Authenticator app for easier login.

Will GeForce NOW support account linking or game syncing between NVIDIA and Microsoft Accounts?
At this time no. Currently Xbox Account Linking is not supported and members will need to log into their Xbox accounts each time they launch a game.  Supported games from the Xbox PC Game Pass library on GeForce NOW will have an Xbox button.

Does the Xbox PC Game Pass or the Microsoft Store support the same countries as GeForce NOW?
No, PC Game Pass supports a different set of countries than GeForce NOW and may not be available in all regions that GeForce NOW operates in. As a result, some games that are available on other digital stores may not offer you the option to play them on Xbox PC Game Pass or Microsoft Store depending on your region, though they can still be streamed on GeForce NOW if you own them through other digital platforms like Steam or Epic Games Store.

I am trying to access the Microsoft Store in-game to purchase content and it’s not working.
We currently do not support purchasing content in-game on GeForce NOW. Users should purchase any in-game content - like downloadable content or in-game currency - directly from the Microsoft Store.

How do I access the Xbox Game Bar when playing a game on GeForce NOW?
When streaming, press CTRL+D to show or hide the Xbox Game Bar.

Can I capture screenshots or video using the Xbox Game Bar on GeForce NOW?
No, both are not supported. However users can use GeForce NOW’s capture utilities, which are available on the native Windows and macOS apps. Press CTRL+G on Windows or CMD+G on macOS when streaming to bring up the GeForce NOW in-game overlay and access our capture features..

Can I play Ubisoft games on Xbox PC Game Pass on GeForce NOW?
Select Ubisoft games are available on Xbox PC Game Pass. Users will need to follow these steps to access the games on Xbox PC Game Pass. Please note that for now users will need access to a Windows PC to complete these steps. NVIDIA will be working with Ubisoft to enable all users to access their games without access to a Windows PC.

What do I do if I see a message “We are unable to sync your data with the cloud at the moment” when playing Xbox PC Game Pass games?
NVIDIA recommends pressing TRY AGAIN until the saves are loaded. NVIDIA will be looking to fix this in the future

Why do I see the message “Use this account everywhere on your device” each time I launch a Xbox PC Game Pass or Microsoft Store game on GeForce NOW?
This is expected for now. Users can select Microsoft apps only so the GeForce NOW virtual machine won’t be registered as a “PC” device in your Microsoft account. If you do press Next, each time you launch a game on GeForce NOW you will see a new device labeled “PC” when you login to your Microsoft Account.

When I log into my Microsoft Account, why do I see many Devices labeled “PC”?
This occurs when users that see the dialog box “Use this account everywhere on your device” and click Next.  You can prevent this by selecting Microsoft apps only so the device won’t be registered in your Microsoft account. Or if you have two factor authentication enabled, the “PC” device won’t be registered in your Microsoft account. These “PC” devices can also be removed from your Microsoft account without affecting GeForce NOW gameplay.. NVIDIA will be looking to fix this in the future.

Why does my Xbox Account sometimes say I am signed in on another device?
After quitting one session and then launching another session right away, some users may see a message that you are signed in on another device. This is likely your previous GeForce NOW session which has not fully shut down. Press SIGN IN HERE to login to your Xbox account again. NVIDIA will be looking to fix this in the future.

When I launch an Xbox game I get an error message 0x803f8001.  What does this mean?
This error code means you do not have entitlement to this game through Xbox.  Please note some games are not on PC Game Pass and require you to own the game through the Microsoft store.  If the game is not on PC Game Pass and you do now own the game, you will see this error.

Before launching a game please make sure that you have
  • Subscribed PC Game Pass
  • The games is on PC Game Pass
  • If the game is not in PC Game pass, you own the game through the Microsoft store

    • Intermittently we are seeing the game become unresponsive when launching in Fullscreen mode while a Steam ad or the Steam Friends list remains open.
    • Borderless Window Mode can be enabled when you launch the game from Steam, and selecting “OPTIONS” on the Fallout 4 launcher
  • Please do not use the “Weapon debris” setting. If it is set to “Ultra”, the game crashes.
  • GeForce NOW supports Creation Club and in-game MODS.
    • Users will be able to enable Creation Club content and in-game MODS. Creation Club features new items, abilities and gameplay created by Bethesda Games Studios and outside development partners, including the best community creators.
