Two-time 200m world champion Shericka Jackson from Jamaica will delay the start of her season. According to her Twitter account, she pulled out of the Diamond League event set for Saturday 27 April in Shanghai/Suzhou, People's Republic of China.

Jackson originally had planned to start her season on 6 April at the Miramar Invitational, but also pulled out of that event. Jackson delaying the start of her season means that track fans will have to continue to wait to see a race between her and American 100m world champion Sha’Carri Richardson.

Their last race was at the world championships in Budapest in August. Jackson won gold, setting a Jamaican record for the 200m, running the second-fastest time in history. Richardson took bronze, with her American teammate Gabrielle Thomas winning silver.

Jackson took gold at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 in the 4x100m relay, in addition to her silver in the 2016 4x400m relay, and three bronze medals. She does not have any OIympic medals in the 200m. She is the two-time world champion at 200m, and also won the Diamond League at that distance for the past two years.
