'Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon' Season 2 to Bring Back Melissa McBride 'Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon' Season 2 to Bring Back Melissa McBride

Melissa McBride and Norman Reedus are reuniting, with McBride set to join Season 2 of “The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon” in a reprisal of the role of Carol Peletier.

The announcement was made as part of AMC‘s presentation at New York Comic Con. McBride will officially join the spinoff in a series regular role for its already announced second season, which will be titled “The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon — The Book of Carol.”

“The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon” is set to air its Season 1 finale on Oct. 15 on AMC and AMC+, with McBride set to appear in the episode. Season 2 is currently in production and is slated to debut in 2024.

The news will no doubt thrill fans of “The Walking Dead,” with McBride and Reedus’ characters being longtime favorites of the show’s viewers. Both actors starred in the flagship show throughout its 11-season run. They were originally slated to appear in a spinoff together, but it was announced in 2022 that McBride was exiting the show. Reedus has previously teased her return, however, saying that Carol is “a very big part of Daryl’s story.”

“I’ve known there was much more to be told of Carol’s story as I felt her so unsettled when we last saw her, as she watched her best friend, Daryl, ride away,” McBride said. “Apart or (hopefully!) together, their stories run deep, and I’m so excited to continue Carol’s journey here. This team of storytellers have done amazing work to land these two established characters in an entirely new world to them, and I’m loving the discoveries!”

In the spinoff, Daryl (Reedus) washes ashore in France. Per the official description, he “struggles to piece together how he got there and why. The series tracks his journey across a broken but resilient France as he hopes to find a way back home. As he makes the journey, though, the connections he forms along the way complicate his ultimate plan.”

Along with Reedus and McBride, the show stars Clémence Poésy, Louis Puech Scigliuzzi, Laika Blanc Francard, Anne Charrier, Romain Levi and Eriq Ebouaney. David Zabel serves as showrunner and executive producer. Both Reedus and McBride also executive produce along with Scott M. Gimple, Greg Nicotero, Angela Kang, Brian Bockrath, Daniel Percival, Jason Richman, and Steve Squillante.

Elsewhere in the “Walking Dead” universe, AMC also revealed that the Rick-Michonne spinoff series “The Ones Who Live” will debut in February while also revealing new first looks at the show.
