As House of the Dragon season 2 nears, writer Sara Hess confirms that one character from the book will not have a big role in the show. The Game of Thrones spinoff series is based on the book Fire & Blood by George R. R. Martin, which chronicles the Targaryen civil war that rocked Westeros. The series stars Emma D’Arcy, Olivia Cooke, and Matt Smith. House of the Dragon season 2 will bring more characters as the turmoil slowly uncovers, including some big houses like the Starks needing to respond to their leader's call.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Hess confirmed that Sara Snow of Winterfell will not have as much screen time as expected since the POV is predominantly that of the Targaryens. The writer also stated they don’t have the eyes to be everywhere since they have so much content to cover. Read the full quote below:

Expect very little. Our POV is the Targaryens, and our POV is split between King's Landing, Dragonstone, and then when Daemon goes to Harrenhal. We just don't have the eyes to really be everywhere at the same time.

The Character Sara Snow Explained

House of the Dragon Already Has Enough Characters to Juggle.

The reduced scenes of Sara, or even the complete removal of her, might come with disappointment, but the series already has colorful House of the Dragon characters to draw from.

Fire & Blood is a complex book, with narratives revealed by characters of Westeros in conflicting accounts. According to one of the characters, Mushroom, a dwarf who served as a fool at the courts of Viserys, Sara Snow is a bastard daughter of Lord Rickon Stark of Winterfell. Sara and Jacaerys Velaryon, firstborn son of Rhaenyra Targaryen, first met when Jace arrived at Winterfell to gain the support of Lord Cregan Stark, Sara’s half-brother.

The two fall in love upon meeting, quickly engage in a romantic affair, and even have a secret wedding in the godswood of Winterfell, despite Jace’s betrothal to Lady Baela Targaryen. The affair initially angers Cregan, but the lord is appeased when he hears they have been married. However, another character who is a source of the dramatic narrative of Fire & Blood, Archmaester Gyldayn, questions the very existence of Sara, let alone her and Jace’s wedding, so, if those behind House of the Dragon wanted, Sara could be completely removed from the show's narrative.
