Sham Kaushal, father of Vicky Kaushal who recently tied the knot with Katrina Kaif at a royal wedding in Rajasthan is not new to Bollywood. While not many know of the industry veteran, he is a very famous and well-known name behind the scenes and has worked with most A-list stars and directors in his career spanning decades. Amitabh Bachchan recently congratulated Sham Kaushal for the wedding of his son Vicky Kaushal to Katrina Kaif and he was overwhelmed by Big B’s gesture.
Sham Kaushal is one of the most well-known stunt and action directors and has worked with Bollywood stars on some of the most famous and thrilling action movies. Sham Kaushal has even directed and worked with Katrina Kaif, his now daughter-in-law in multiple movies. Sham Kaushal has worked in movies like Padmavat, Kaabil, Sanju, Dangal, Bajirao Mastani, Krrish 2 & 3, Bajrangi Bhaijan, Gangs of Wasseypur, Dhoom 3, Ram Leela, Raajneeti, Phantom, Kaminey, Om Shanti Om, Gundey, Ishaqzaade, Phantom. He was also the action director for the Oscar-winning movie Slumdog Millionaire.
Sham Kaushal might be a very well known name today but the director comes from very humble beginnings. He comes from a very small village in Northern India. Hailing from Mirzapur near Tanda in Punjab, India. He completed his education in Punjab and completed his post-graduation in English literature from Govt college, Hoshiarpur. Post his education, he decided to come to Mumbai in search of work and started working as a sales executive.
His journey in the industry began with a chance encounter with some stunts-men who informed him of the tasks and he decided to take it on. He started working in the industry as a stunts-man and soon, began learning the ropes of being a director too. After 7 long years of working as a stunts-man, he got a chance to showcase his directorial skills as an action director for the Malayalam movie Indrajalam starring Mohanlal. He took the opportunity up and there was no looking back!
He has only gone from strength to strength since then and has also become a big inspiration for his son, Vicky Kaushal who is also a part of the industry today.
