On Wednesday night, the shorthanded Memphis Grizzlies did the unthinkable - they defeated Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks.
Jaren Jackson Jr. exploded for 35 points, 4 assists, 3 rebounds, 3 steals, and 1 block on 54% shooting. His running mate GG Jackson put up an impressive 15 points, 12 rebounds, and 1 assist on 50% shooting from the field. Off the bench, Brandon Clarke put up 14 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 assists on 70% shooting from the field.
On the other side, Giannis Antetokounmpo put up 21 points, 8 assists, 7 rebounds, and 5 blocks on 43% shooting. Surprisingly, head coach Bucks head coach Doc Rivers pulled Giannis out of the game early at moments and felt Giannis was playing fatigued.
"I thought Giannis did everything he could," Rivers said. "Honestly, and I'm not even kidding, there were times in the beginning of the third that I talked to Scott (Foster) three different times. I wanted to take him out of the game. I thought he was running on fumes. As a coach, you gotta make a judgment call sometimes, and medical makes the call more. They kept saying he's okay, but I have eyes. I just didn't like the way he was moving. That's why I took him out the one time early. He kept asking to go back in and trainers said he was fine, so we kind of stuck there."
The Memphis Grizzlies have had a few surprising wins this season, but Wednesday night's against the Bucks ranks up there.
