Ian Wright says £27m Arsenal player showed he is ‘the best’ against Manchester United

Arsenal took another step towards potentially being Premier League champions by beating Manchester United at Old Trafford this afternoon.

The Gunners put in a resolute performance while not being at their sparkling best to take another three points and ensure the pressure is back on Man City.

A goal from Leandro Trossard after some more lacklustre defending from United was enough to seal the deal for Mikel Arteta’s side.

For Trossard, it was another goal in a season which has now brought him 17 in all competitions.

And lauding the forward, former Gunner Ian Wright has said Trossard has something ahead of everyone else at Arsenal.

Ian Wright says Leandro Trossard is Arsenal’s best finisher after Manchester United win

Speaking about Trossard on Premier League Productions this afternoon, Wright had some words of praise for the Belgian after his goal.

“You saw the manner in which Trossard attacks the box – that’s his thing,” Wright said.

“He’s crashing the box, coming in, getting in front of his marker. He’s the best finisher at Arsenal, you can see that with his numbers – he’s got that cuteness and that’s crucial in games like this.”

Trossard has been some buy for Arsenal

When Arsenal paid £27m for Trossard in January of 2023, there were more than a good number of football fans who questioned it.

However, since arriving he has shown time and again how crucial he is to this Arsenal side.

17 goals this season is some return for a player who has actually only started 16 Premier League games and it just shows what Wright is saying here is correct.

The goal today was that of a seasoned striker. The run, movement and little finish all akin to that of a top number nine.

Trossard, then, has proven himself at Arsenal and simply has to be considered a top Premier League player.
