When you create a profile on LinkedIn, a public version of your profile is published to our member directory. Search engines like Google and Yahoo periodically review our member directory for new and updated public profile information to show in their search results. This indexes your profile and makes it searchable on the web.
If you want to be indexed by search engines:

Turn on Your profile’s public visibility in your public profile settings.

Invite and connect with at least one connection.

Add additional sections and information to your profile.

Edit your profile regularly to keep it current.
Important: If you don't want to be indexed by search engines, toggle Your profile’s public visibility to Off in your public profile settings.
Notes:

We can't control how quickly search engines make updates after you make changes to your public profile. Some search engines can take several weeks to remove old profiles or show new information.

You can edit your public profile settings to show only the information you want or to not show at all.

You must display your full last name to have a public profile.

Your public profile settings work independently from the LinkedIn profile seen by members who are signed in.
