The Inland Empire loves its country music and heavy metal, but when the Citizens Business Bank Arena opened its doors in 2008, the region got so much more.
Here is a look at some of the highlights of the first decade at the Ontario venue, which opened Oct. 24.
Oct. 24, 2008: Los Angeles Lakers defeat the Oklahoma City Thunder 105-94 in a televised exhibition game. Kobe Bryant, coming off an injury, plays briefly.
Oct. 25, 2008: The Ontario Reign plays its first home game against the Las Vegas Wranglers and wins 4-1. The Reign goes on to take the 2008-2009 Pacific Division championship.
Nov. 9, 2008: Rising country star Carrie Underwood does a 95-minute, 19 song set. Little Big Town opens for her in the arena’s first concert.

Dec. 12, 2008: Metallica kicks off a string of Southern California dates in Ontario. The arena sells more than 10,000 tickets.
Jan. 4, 2009: Neil Diamond performs decades of hits for 10,000 concertgoers.
July 17, 2009: The “American Idols Live” tour makes its first stop at the arena.
May 19, 2010: Foreigner, Kansas and Styx join forces bringing their United In Rock tour to Ontario.
May 22, 2010: The Eagles, described by Glenn Frey as “the band that wouldn’t die,” make a stop on their “Busy Being Fabulous” tour, or according to Frey, the “Eagles’ Assisted Living Tour.”
Despite ticket prices that topped out at more than $200 for the best seats and a string of tour dates that already included Anaheim and Los Angeles, the band that merged sun-soaked Southern California rock and country music decades ago packed the venue Saturday night.
May 30, 2010: Actor Anthony Daniels, AKA C-3PO, narrates “Star Wars in Concert.” Memorabilia from the blockbuster movie series fills the concourse.
July 29, 2010: The Scorpions blow kisses to fans passing through the Inland Empire on a “farewell tour.” Years later, they continued to tour Southern California.
Oct. 17, 2010: 16-year-old Justin Bieber attracts 9,000 people, mostly teen or pre-teen and screaming for such hits as “Baby” and “U Smile.”
Nov. 5, 2010: Elton John and Leon Russell bring in the adults. Hits include “Saturday Night’s Alright (For Fighting)” and “Philadelphia Freedom.”
March 2, 2011: The 2011 U.S. Synchronized Skating Championships takes over the ice rink for three days.
July 16, 2011: Scotty McCreery is the champion, but Idyllwild native Casey Abrams is the hometown favorite at this edition of “American Idols Live.”
Sept. 4, 2011: The now red-hot John Legend opens for Sade of “Smooth Operator” fame.
Oct. 21, 2011: Corona figure skater Richard Dornbush doesn’t have much of a commute when he performs in the 2011 Skate America Smucker’s Skating Spectacular.
Sept. 9, 2012: Kellogg’s Tour of Gymnastics Champions brings Gabby Douglas and Nastia Liukin to Ontario.
Oct. 24, 2012: It takes 18 trucks to bring Cirque du Soleil’s “Dralion” to the arena for four days.
Dec. 16, 2012: X103.9 FM has its first Merry Meltdown at the arena with P.O.D., Switchfoot, Lit, Anberlin, Sick Puppies and the Dirty Heads.
March 3, 2013: Carrie Underwood returns to the arena a full-fledged superstar in concert broadcast live on AXS-TV.
March 13, 2014: Loma Linda Children’s University Foundation books the arena for its annual fundraising gala headlined by then 13-year-old soprano Jackie Evancho.
Aug. 7, 2017: The Agua Caliente Clippers takes up residence with a tip-off party. With the arrival of the Development League affiliate of the Los Angeles Clippers, no Lakers exhibition games are scheduled for 2018.
