Ed Reed Has Two Family Members In The 2024 NFL Draft Class
Ed Reed had a Hall of Fame career in the NFL, and two members of his family are set to potentially begin professional careers of their own this week at the 2024 NFL Draft.
Reed has a cousin and a nephew in this year's draft class, and both players are projected to be picked during day three.
Reed's cousin is Air Force safety Trey Taylor, and his nephew is Jha'Quan Jackson, a wide receiver from Tulane.
Taylor is coming off an excellent season with Air Force, where he was named an All-American and earned first-team All-Mountain West honors.
Taylor also won the Jim Thorpe Award as the top defensive back in college football in 2023, an award that players like Patrick Peterson, Eric Berry and Charles Woodson have won in the past.
Jackson also earned all-conference honors in the American with Tulane over each of the last two seasons.
He caught 26 passes for 439 yards and four touchdowns in 2023, building on a 2022 campaign in which he caught 33 passes for 554 yards.
Reed was a first-round pick back in 2002, establishing himself as one of the NFL's elite defensive backs in his first season.
Reed would win the Defensive Player of the Year award in his third season, one of only five secondary players to win the award over the last two decades.
He ended his career as a Super Bowl champion, making nine Pro Bowls and eight All-Pro teams while also leading the league in interceptions three times.
Reed ended his career with a well-earned induction in Canton. His cousin and nephew will be hoping to make a similar impact if and when their names are called in the draft this weekend.
