One of the most beautiful islands in our country - please drive thru Acadia and have a picnic and plan a bike ride on the carriage trails for the next day. This is a picnic ride and stop for dessert or tea in the afternoon at Jordan Pond House.

Mount Desert island offers it all; beautiful weather, stunning scenery, loads of wildlife and fun things to do. Shopping in its small villages, biking, kayaking. You can't go wrong if in the general area. Well worth some time planned for this wonderful Island.

All of Acadia Park is a must see! The whole area is breathtaking, peaceful and just beautiful. We did a self guided tour and stopped at most attractions through out the park. I would recommend taking a picnic with you and stopping at one of the many picnic sites in the park. You will not be sorry you went here!

Acadia National Park is beautiful and easy to get around in during the preseason. I can see it being a mess in the summer with the crowds.

If you get out of your guy and go walk, hike, bike, birdwatch- you will not be dissapointed. The view along the coast are as good as any national park in the world. You of course are 4 .5 hours from Boston but the visit is worth it if you want to camp, find a friendly motel

We spent the weekend on MDI. Had a great time. Acadia National Park is absolutely a must-do. We stayed at the Best Western Acadia Park Inn. Also a must do is to travel around the islands to see the other communities, not only Bar Harbour. AVOID going to BH on days when the cruise ship(s) are in town.

This is not a visit, I live here.I live here because I love it here. So this review will be a little biased. Mount Desert Island is an awe inspiring place. Not only is this place breath takingly beautiful, there is so much to do. You can hike, bike, yakak, go swimming, visit a museum or many other things. Each and every village has it's own charm
One of my favorite things in summer is the many great restaurants we have to choose from. I have visited many places and National Parks, but to me Mount Desert Island is the best.

Acadia NP has hiking for everyone, from easy walks along the ocean, to short jogs towards great views, to some difficult trials up to the top of Cadillac Mountain, where the panorama is well worth the effort (better to hike it than to drive it). The fact the Acadia is so easy to get to is a real plus, and should be on everyone's list of places to visit.

We took Oli's Trolly out of Bar Harbor and enjoyed the narration of the tour provided by the driver. Made three stops, Cadillac Mountain, Thunder Hole, and the Gardens where they had every specie of plant found in the park. Went during early May which is before the peak season and the park was not crowded.

Are dogs allowed?

The area is very dog friendly. There will be a few places that don't allow pets inside, but overall the area is very dog friendly. I saw dogs on the decks of restaurants, walking in the park, and on hiking trails. There will be some trails in Acadia that wouldn't be good for pets because of the rocks.
Can you suggest a itinerary for 3 days . I’m traveling with 2 teens and a 20 yr old.
Thanks

Depends on amount you want to be outdoors/amount you want to spend. Personally: Drive the Park Loop Road ... take a day (stop for views/short walks/see Sand Beach). Drive up Cadillac Mountain. Day 2: rent bikes and enjoy them on the Carriage Trails/dinner in Bar Harbor. Day 3: hike a small peak like Acadia or a bigger one on the east side. Walk up Beehive if you like views and are not afraid of heights. See the lighthouse. Dinner on the quiet side.

Drive the park loop road. Rent bikes if you aren't bringing your own and bike the carriage roads, or take a horse drawn carriage ride on them. Visit Northeast an Southwest Harbors. Eat lunch at eat a pita in SW Harbor, delicious. Walk the shore path in downtown Bar Harbor. Play Mini golf at Pirates Cove. So much to do. Most of all, just relax and enjoy. No place like it on earth!

Different answers for different parts of the park. Just obey the posted signs and you shouldn't have a problem.

Thinking of traveling to Acadia in early June. What's the best way to see the park ? We are in our late 60's but like short walks. Also what's the weather like in June? How much time should be allow for the park? Can you drive the loop or do you need to take the bus?
