About the PGA

The Producers Guild of America is a nonprofit trade organization that represents and promotes the interests of all members of the producing team in motion pictures, television and new media. The Producers Guild works to protect the careers of producers and improve the producing community at large by facilitating health benefits for members, encouraging the enforcement of workplace labor laws and sustainable practices, creating fair and impartial standards for the awarding of producing credits, and hosting educational opportunities for new and experienced producers alike.

The Producers Guild Awards

The annual Producers Guild Awards, which typically take place during the first quarter of each year, honor the most impactful and entertaining producing achievements in the worlds of film and television. Considered a strong prognosticator for the Best Picture Oscar ® , the Darryl F. Zanuck Producer of the Year Award in Theatrical Motion Pictures is one of the most eagerly anticipated honors of the season. For a complete list of historical winners please visit www.producersguild.org.

The Guild also hands out five coveted honorary awards: the Milestone Award, the David O. Selznick Achievement Award in Theatrical Motion Pictures, the Norman Lear Achievement Award in Television, the Visionary Award, and the Stanley Kramer Award.

The Producers Mark

In 2012, the PGA launched the Producers Mark (“p.g.a.”) for use in motion picture credits and promotional materials. It was a watershed move and the first process to specifically vet and validate producers as having met a certain set of producing criteria on a particular film. Today every major studio, and most independent production companies, regularly submit their films to the PGA for credit certification. Clint Eastwood has called the Producers Mark, “a great leveler,” saying, “Those letters after your name aren’t about which club you’re a part of—it’s about the work you’ve done.”
