      2013 Crime Drama List
91% Tomatometer 46 Reviews 76% Audience Score 100+ Ratings When an American judge known for anti-immigration views is found dead on the bridge connecting El Paso, Texas, with Juarez, Mexico, authorities from both sides of the U.S.-Mexico border must work together to catch the perp, a serial killer who is operating in both countries. Detective Sonya Cross, of the El Paso Police Department, works with Chihuahua State Police Detective Marco Ruiz, who knows about the slippery politics of Mexican law enforcement. Ruiz's whatever-it-takes approach doesn't sit well with Cross, who has Asperger's syndrome and a by-the-book attitude when it comes to the job. But the two put their differences aside to solve a string of murders on the border, which is already infected with issues that include illegal immigration, drug trafficking, violence and prostitution. Eric Deggans Tampa Bay Times I loved seeing a Mexican policeman's life rendered so realistically and compellingly. Dec 4, 2019 Full Review Melinda Houston Sydney Morning Herald Diane Kruger is perfectly icy as the "unusual" Detective Sonya Cross. Demian Bichir is super as her Mexican counterpart Marco Ruiz: kindly, world-weary, with a quantity of crumpled charisma. Rated: 4/5 Jun 14, 2017 Full Review Nancy DeWolf Smith Wall Street Journal [A] dark but artful and sophisticated drama. Jul 18, 2013 Full Review Randy Dankievitch Processed Media It's a cop show, one with a dysfunctional female lead... that takes more than a few hints from The Americans, spicing it up with yet another serial killer story on television. Rated: B- Feb 19, 2020 Full Review Jessica Johnson Time Out Chicago The Bridge remains a compelling thriller bolstered by excellent performances and an intriguing political message. Jul 3, 2018 Full Review John Powers Vogue The true virtue of The Bridge is not Cross's and Ruiz's police work -- by now, we've all seen enough cops for a lifetime -- but what it casually reveals about life on the border. Kieran S I have watched the original Scandanavian series which is great, this remake by the USA is just awful, even with 2 strong lead actors, why does the USA destroy quality shows, just stay away from great shows. So sad I am just depressed at how poorly this has been done. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 12/11/23 Full Review Trina H This series is ridiculous to say the least. In what real life scenario can a doctor inform a patient's wife that a young boy dying is a match for her husband, who needs a heart. That wife is allowed to go to the room if that dying boy and harrass the father into pulling the plug on his dying son, so her husband can get his heart!!! Not to mention, how many other patients may have been on the heart transplant waiting list for a donated heart. That was crazy ridiculous and unethical to say the least. I absolutely could not tolerate to watch anymore of the tragically poor written series. I should have known it was bad because rotten tomato rated it 91%. I generally do not care for any of their picks for sure!!! Rated 1 out of 5 stars 06/21/23 Full Review Audience Member Has its moments but eventually its poor storyline, excessive gore, ridiculous mumbling characters and overacting make you turn it off and look for the news! Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member This show was really interesting, well directed it kept you wanting more and then boom they canceled it . This was a really delicious crime drama, I really thought Netflix would pick it up, sure some of the characters were a bit strange but so is life. People that actually enjoy well written crime dramas would definitely watch it. This is one of those shows that ranks in with the true blood series, yes it was that good. Also can you think about adding some chapters to that Night Watch and Day Watch a long with Dylan Dog very good show as well. Thanking you in advance, Shelia Napalmred Harris 04/12/2020 . Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member Unbearably annoying and cliche, is what this show's screenplay and detective Sonya North have in common. Together they make this otherwise average show a complete failure. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member Very bad series, not very real, slow, stupid characters Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Read all reviews
