Greeted by a smiling staff, was exactly what was needed after a white knuckle icy drive up 95 from MA headed for a weekend of skiing in NH. She made us instantly feel at home. We, my wife, granddaughter, and myself are very familiar with the Marriott hotel chain, as we have been Gold and Platinum members for many years. This hotel is exceptional. This is not a new hotel, it went though renovations several years ago but looks absolutely brand new...our room was spotless! The entire hotel didn't seem to have a scuff mark on the floors, walls, carpets, anywhere. The cleaning and maintenance staff do a great job.
In the morning the hot breakfast was more than adequate and the "food Lady" was delightful and provided a welcoming family friendly environment. Our 9yr old granddaughter spent a lot time in the pool...said it was nice and warm. Again, the pool area sparkled. We are planning on this hotel to be our weekend home, during this years ski season. This was our first stay in a hotel as a family of five since the onset of Covid in March. We were traveling from NY and opted to stay here overnight to break up the driving until our ultimate destination in Maine. I have travelled all over the globe for work but it was still a bit odd with regard to what to expect. It turned out this was a great first stop. Staff was super friendly at checkin and absent the masks everything would have seemed perfectly normal. We had a two bedroom and it was perfect, we didn't cover every square inch of the space but we were cautious and it was quite clean. Upon checkout I needed a document printed and while there was no business center or PC, I guess due to Covid, I emailed it to the front desk and had it in no time. I didn't know when we booked but there is another Residence Inn close to the harbor. If you want to be closer to town that might be better but I have to say it is a very short trip and we had no problem driving over and spending some time in Portsmouth the one evening we were there. If you want the Harbor location but can't get in I would definitely say this absolutely a good alternative. Our stay really made us feel like we were entering the normal world again, staff is definitely top notch based on my interactions.

Overall the stay was good. This is an older property, has had some updates, but overall not impressive. If you are looking for a place to hang out with the kids, pets (this place is pet friendly), and save money having a kitchen then this is probably a great option. The tub had been removed and replaced with a standard shower along with separate shower wand, but even for me it was very cramped. The bed was OK but you could tell the firmness was on its last legs especially if you sat on the edges. Overall my stay was good…but I tend to expect more from Marriott. The staff from check-in to check-out were excellent and took great care of me.

For the rate we paid (over $400 on a June Saturday night) the room was not up to standard. There was a strong perfume odor upon opening the room, clearly meant to cover up cigarette smoke or pets from a previous stay. Given that the room was near an exit my guess is that guests with pets normally stay in the room. The room itself was muggy even with the AC. Spending time in the room for a just a night triggered some severe allergies that I have not experienced in quite some time. If we had paid a more reasonable amount I would rate as average, but this hotel is definitely overpriced for what it offers. Breakfast was also very slim pickings.

My husband and I stayed here for two nights. On the second morning slightly before 9 a.m. I heard a soft knock on the door. The sign on the outside doorknob clearly indicated not to be disturbed. I went to the door to indicate not to enter when suddenly the door opened and an elderly male worker then closed the door. I was alarmed and grateful my husband was with me. Upon checkout I mentioned this to the woman at the front desk. Her response was “0h he is deaf”. However if he cannot hear he should be able to read the sign on the outside of the door . Why would someone who can’t hear knock on a door. If a man is knocking on a door he should be able to hear a response. When I asked why he would have opened my door and what his role was in the hotel, her answer was she didn’t know. Her attitude was unconcerned and I feel this was a serious security issue.

We were fortunate to stay here this past weekend. 6 adults in total. From Jordan & Kelly behind the desk to Tanya & Jimmy in the kitchen, it was absolutely wonderful!! The hotel & grounds are immaculate & the food is the best hotel breakfast I have ever had!! We had a lovely fire pit night, and the location is about a 8 minute drive to downtown & the waterfront. Perfect, perfect, perfect! I won’t stay anywhere else when returning to Portsmouth!

Stayed two nights (room 311 one bedroom suite) for a trip to Portsmouth. Front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. Room was very clean. Comfortable bed and sofa. Adequate space. Plus to have a kitchenette and dining table. In a great location however far enough outside downtown Portsmouth to avoid major traffic. Mobile key a plus!

We had a great family getaway during February vacation week. Luke was wonderful, kind and attentive! Our room was extremely clean and the hotel was immaculate. Every hotel staff we met along our stay always asked how our day was or how our stay was so far. We loves our stay!

We have stayed here a few times and have always had a great experience! This time we were upgraded to a two bedroom, two bathroom suite with a fireplace. Very nice after a long family vacation!! The breakfast area is clean, bright and welcoming. The front desk staff was very friendly and happy to help. We will be back.

Very very comfortable place to stay. Great locale to a lot of area attractions. Walk over to Redhook!. Not as convenient as Downtown Res Inn but between free parking and big savings each one has their time and place to stay!
