From the orientation, I was able to feel the close-knit community that the MSW program offers. Everyone, from other students to staff and professors, is extremely welcoming and receptive to fostering positive experiences for students. I have heard from previous professors that the Social Work program at Long Beach is exceptional, and I think it stems from the passion of faculty to provide the best studies for current students. The program curriculum is well-rounded, teaching at every level of social work, including micro, meso, and macro social work. In addition, the internships also provide real-world experiences for students to obtain vital skills when finding employment in the future. Overall, I am glad to be part of this program.
The best part about my experience at CSULB was the program's structure and organization. I love that the administration and faculty have curated a program that simplifies the entire process. Since the beginning of receiving my acceptance letter, I received detailed instructions on the next steps. The faculty is approachable and helpful. They all have great experiences to draw from and share with students. I like the curriculum offered and the order in which classes are selected. Thanks to the curriculum selection and order, I felt prepared when starting my first-year internship. The internship process has been extremely smooth as well because they gathered information from you to place you at the most suitable site and guided you through the process. They provide exceptional training and preparation before sending you off to interview sites. Overall, my experience has been positive because I have felt supported by the faculty and staff.
