Miles and More App - Mileage Calculator

I see that LH have retired the Meilenrechner (https://meilenrechner.de) for calculating miles earning and put a new calculator in the Miles and More app. The new calculator has to gather a lot of information to accurately work out earning.

As one app store reviewer put it...

App store review of Miles and More app

Having used it a couple of times, I'm seeing some inconsistences. Is anyone else noticing these?

Can't calculate miles on codeshares correctly
LH9729 BKK-BNE booked on an LH (220) ticket in V class. Actually operated as TG474, and LH/V cross books in to TG/K.
The app shows miles earning as 1,130 status miles - it's used the LH V class, applied that to TG, and decided it's 25% earning.
The correct calculation should be 2,260 - the LH V should be mapped to TG K, which is 50% earning.

Odd calculations for European short-haul flights
LX317 LHR-ZRH booked on an LH (220) ticket in K class. Senator status (so 25% miles bonus)
The app shows miles earning of 245 status miles.
The correct calculation should be about 156 status miles (125 for K + 25% bonus of 31 miles)
If I look at other Euro short-haul destinations (e.g. LHR-GVA, 241 miles - LHR-FRA, 223 miles) it looks like it's using the fixed miles as the base, but then using 25% of the *flown* miles for the bonus? Is this... new?

As I'm going to squeak SEN requal this year, not having trust in the calculator to be accurate is a bit unnerving.

Mileage Calculator

Hello there... I have a few upcoming LH/LX/TP flights and tried to get an idea of how many miles I will get for them.

Is there an easy way to calculate this? The mileage calculator is one of the clunkiest pieces of software I have come across yet - and especially for non LH issued tickets is a real pain.

Is there an easy cheat to figure out what I will get?

For non-LH issued tickets try wheretocredit.com.

Thanks. And even there it takes four rows to explain just one booking class. Makes you wonder if the program is designed to be too complex to understand.

You are absolutely right, the calculator is junk.

However, particularly non LH issued tickets are pretty easy, as all you need is distance and booking class. LH issued tickets are where the trouble really starts ...

LH & M&M IT is junk .... period

Award miles resemble a lottery with more chance of winning on the latter

This is really ridiculous, app is slow and buggy and takes ages to properly calculate miles ... I wonder who gave the green light for this ???

Multi try to get one calculation and most of time need to redo all to get it right. I never saw so useless app to do any type of calculation, one of the best M&M IT jobs

Just to add one more person frustrated with this damn app. To start with, a calculator is not necessary when you can see at the time of purchase or reviewing you booking, just like UA. But if something like this is necessary, it is not something I want to so only on my mobile. The reservation is also on my mobile, so the amount of times I need to change apps to get it right is crazy. And when something goes wrong, it is almost a given I have to start over.

The app-based calculator is completely useless. Methinks LH wants to deliberatly prevent you from calculating mileage in advance. A typical nickel-and dime move...

It says a lot about the growing complexities of M&M that there's a 'Quick Calculator' and a 'Detailed Calculator'.
