Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.

I consider this album to be Conway and Loretta's best heartfelt songs. I can't imagine either one of them to have sung these songs better with anyone else.

Conway and Loretta never disappoint

back in 1987, Conway and Loretta went on tour for a series of concerts. It was their first joint tour since 1980/1981, prior to Conway leaving MCA for Warner Brothers. This reunion tour sparked re-newed interest in their duet possibilities after all those years and they were talked into recording new material. Heartland Music issued a stellar collection on the duo and the attraction were the five NEW songs recorded exclusively for the project. In 1988 MCA took those five new songs and placed them along side five of their classic recordings and the result was "Making Believe", this album i'm reviewing. the five new songs are actually remakes of previous hits by other singers: "Making Believe" was a hit for Kitty Wells; "Half as Much" and "I Can't Help It" were hits by Hank Williams; "Faded Love" was a hit for Bob Wills; and "Please Help Me I'm Falling" was a hit for Hank Locklin. the other five songs also focus on their remakes of other artists' hits. "Hey Good Lookin" was a hit for Hank Williams; "Release Me" was a hit for Ray Price among others; "Back Home Again" was a hit for John Denver. The last two songs are original hits by the two: "As Soon As I Hang up The Phone" from 1974 (a #1 hit) and 1980's #5 hit "It's True Love". the album was simply a fun thing for the fans to enjoy. it certainly wasn't meant to be a major hit...although their tour was a sell-out and their Heartland TV album went GOLD. This 1987/1988 reunion was the last the duo ever did professionally {at times they'd appear on TV shows together after 1988 but these appearances were mostly viewed as nostalgic with nothing new in terms of songs.}
