New York inked Keelan Doss to its practice squad in a string of roster moves. The 25-year-old has been well-traveled throughout his brief NFL career. While he has not been overly productive at any of his stops, the Jets are hoping he can provide quality depth if needed.

Here are four things to know about New York’s newest wideout.

Three years, four teams

Doss has yet to find a home in the NFL since entering the league as an undrafted free agent with the Raiders in 2019. Doss failed to break training camp with the Raiders as a rookie, signed with the Jaguars practice squad and then landed back with the Raiders eight days later. Doss remained with the organization until August after two seasons of bouncing back and forth between the practice squad and active roster. The Falcons picked Doss up in September, but things did not work out for him in Atlanta. The Jets are the fourth team to take a chance on the 25-year-old.

Small school star

Doss was a dominant player throughout his career at UC Davis, setting program records in receiving touchdowns (29) and all-purpose yards (4,218). Those numbers stand to this day with Doss entrenched as a program legend.

Unexpected slide

Cary Edmondson-USA TODAY Sports

Doss was expected to be a mid-round pick in the 2019 NFL draft, but he tested poorly throughout the pre-draft process and ultimately did not hear his name called. The deficiencies that kept Doss from getting drafted have shown throughout his NFL career, as he has been plagued by drops and a lack of speed.

Big target

Matt Kartozian-USA TODAY Sports

Doss’ most redeeming quality as a wideout is his size. The California native is listed at 6-foot-3 and 215 pounds, making him a red zone target and a receiver who can win jump balls downfield.
