Air Mauritius (MK) is the flag carrier of the country of Mauritius and the fourth-largest airline in sub-Saharan Africa. Its primary hub is located at Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport (MRU), just outside the capital city of Port Louis. The airline offers non-stop flights to Australia, China, France, Hong Kong, India, Kenya, Madagascar, Malaysia, Réunion, Singapore, South Africa and the United Kingdom. The airline also has codeshare agreements with Air France, Emirates, Malaysia Airlines, South African Airways and Virgin Australia Airlines. Its fleet includes aircraft with a variety of one-cabin (Economy Class) and two-cabin (Business Class and Economy Class) configurations.

I have a very severe allergy to nuts and peanuts, so when I was surprised with a holiday to Mauritius, I looked online for information about the precautions Air Mauritius take to keep allergy sufferers safe. With every other airline I have flown with, they will always take it seriously, make an allergy announcement and stop the serving of nuts/peanuts, lots of airlines have actually banned selling nuts altogether as it’s not worth the risk! I couldn’t find much information on their website so I emailed Air Mauritius, after around 5 weeks of automatic replies about how they cannot guarantee an allergy free environment, they finally sent me this email: “ Upon verification with the relevant team, we cannot make any announcement and stop the sale of nuts/peanuts on the flight. You need to take your own precautions , as we cannot guarantee an environment free from food allergies. However, you may bring your own food (solid) , followed by a medical certificate from your doctor stating that you have allergy.” The information is still vague and they will not confirm what they are actually serving on the flight which makes it very difficult to prepare. I’m shocked that Air Mauritius would put their snack service over a potentially life threatening allergy. I’m extremely worried about taking this flight and will never use this company again. The customer service team lack understanding and aren’t helpful at all.

Our 30th wedding anniversary and my birthday. Sadly the service was not good we have had better service on budget airlines At the airport I booked the lounge so we could relax before the flight but no it was a very stressful time.. At check-in we were given the same boarding pass same number same seat same name We went to security, my wife went through But I couldn't security had trouble scanning me through as it kept saying I was already through, eventually they opened a gate for me it was only when we were through security we realised we both had the same boarding pass,i went back to security only to be told I couldn't go back to the desk, I spent two hours i should of been relaxing in the lounge on the phone trying to sort it out,eventually a very kind young lady working in the lounge went and managed to sort it in time to get on the plane. This was very stressful not a good start to our special holiday. We have kept the boarding passes as proof if required . The plane to mauritius was changed to hifly the plane was old and dated nothing actually worked, lots of people unable to get to wach movies and listen to music. The staff on the plane were not helpful and it seamed like they didn't want to be there. We ordered champagne when we asked about it nobody new anything about it and that's how it is left, there were a few people asking about the champagne they ordered. We ordered drinks after food we enquired about the drink a number of times but we never got them, the lights went out and that was that ! Thay ran out of soap and toilet paper on the plane unbelievable !!! When breakfast was served we again asked about the champagne we had paid for eventually were given two small bottles when we asked for glasses we were told no we couldn't drink it on the plane We were not the only ones told the same,take it with you. The flight back was a little better but to be honest we were very disappointed and regret flighing air mauritius so we ar very unlikely to recommend you to anyone Mr & Mrs Bradfield

Pros On time both ways. Great food and drink options on board. Gatwick lounge was lovely. Return flight staff were fabulous. Very comfy flat bed on return. Cons Check in staff both ways unhelpful and grumpy. Told we couldn’t have two bags ( we can and did, eventually). No smile, bored expressions. Outbound flight was an old plane. No entertainment working and flat bed not comfy. Crew efficient but not friendly in the slightest. I would use again but would not be top of the list.

Flight got delayed twice. Plus I have paid for my preferred seat but at the counter they gave my seat to someone else, so I have paid for nothing

The absolute WORST airline to fly with. Terrible customer service. Flights getting canceled without any prior notice. Better to stay at home than to travel with air Mauritius.
