Why Is Star Wars Day May 4?

All holidays have an origin story, and Star Wars Day is no different — even if its origin is sillier than most. May 4 is Star Wars Day based solely on the pun of “May the Force be with you” sounding like “May the fourth be with you.” People on social media started saying the latter, and Disney and retailers took note. Not wanting to leave money on the table, Star Wars Day gradually became a thing. Now, it’s recognized by nearly all the retailers and other companies that deal in Star Wars stuff.
