At seventeen, Stella married her high school sweetheart: Harrell, and they had a son Jason. She began her writing career almost by accident. She was a hairdresser and worked in her sister's beauty shop. Ironically, Stella developed a severe allergy to hairspray and was forced to resign. With time on her hands, Stella wanted to do something creative. She remembered a high school English teacher telling her she could be a writer if she wanted. Although she always loved reading romances, she never thought to write one herself. Armed with that now notion and an old, manual typewriter, she went to work, attempting to create a story similar to those she liked reading. The result‚ her first book, purchased by Mills & Boon and issued under the Harlequin imprint. After that, she became a full time writer and today, has close to forty published novels. Her for the future is to continue writing romance novels as long as there's an audience to enjoy her work.

Next to writing, traveling is one of her most favorite activities. Yet, because the southwest is dear to her heart, she sets most of her books there in rough, rugged ranch country. She feels it's essential to know a place before writing about it; that philosophy gives her more reason to plan trips! The marriage has always lived in southeastern Oklahoma. But, they purchased a portion of a twenty-two hundred, acre ranch; they now make their home there. Before moving onto the ranch, she had a swimming pool in her back yard and spent most of her summer evenings in the water. Her husband has promised to put in another pool, but for now she has to make do with the creek that runs through their property. The closest town of three thousand is fifteen miles away; she says she loves the seclusion, living among the woods and horses and wildlife. The only thing she doesn't like is making the thirty mile round trip to the post office or grocery store. Worse still, is the eighty-five mile trip to get office supplies!

One of her greatest joys was to see Jason, her only son, graduate from college with degrees in math and physical education. He now lives in Port Lavaca, Texas, where he teaches high school algebra and geometry and coaches football and weightlifting. Family has always come first with Stella and she enjoys spending time with her son when he visits Oklahoma. Sometimes, she and her husband drive down to the Texas coast to see him. However, her mother, step-father and siblings all live nearby and they have routine get-togethers. In her spare time, she enjoys practicing violin and guitar, both of which she can play by ear. She claims to need years of practice before calling herself a musician. Stella also enjoys gardening and being outdoors.

I fell completely in love with sweet little Maeve and then tipped head over heels for her father, Tyler in For His Daughter’s Sake, the second title in the Montana Mavericks: The Real Cowboys of Bronco Heights. If you’re looking for a romance that will capture all the emotions then this one is for you!

Tyler is a devoted dad and a dedicated rancher who is on his own, for the most part, in trying to do everything for his daughter and his ranch… and the strain is beginning to show. Oh, it’s not that there aren’t lots of people willing and wanting to help – it’s more like Tyler is a stubborn man who wrongly believes he has to atone for his dead wife’s actions. I loathed his wife, and the more I learned about her the deeper that loathing became. This is a good man who made choices and is standing behind those choices… right or wrong.

Callie doesn’t know the first thing about babies, and she’s feeling a bit envious and feels like she’s on the outside looking in seeing all the new happy couples in town. She gets a quick introduction to a hot cowboy at an event, Callie blows off the immediate attraction, or she tries to but Tyler is a man any woman would look at twice not only for his looks but he comes off as a gentleman and a good man even on first impressions. What Callie isn’t aware of is that Tyler is fighting his own attraction to her… and believing himself unworthy of any woman’s love after his disastrous marriage. Some good “matchmakers” and a chain of events will prove them wrong in thinking they’d never work… they simply have to be willing to take a few risks outside their comfort zones and leave the past where it belongs far distant in the rearview mirror.

For His Daughter’s Sake is an emotional, involved romance, and I expect that type of connection from Stella Bagwell (there’s a good reason she’s one of my “go-to” authors). I will always love a single dad, especially that unique bond between dads and daughters. Watching Tyler naturally, lovingly caring for Maeve was a joy – and watching Callie get comfortable with Maeve (considering the first time Maeve saw her she burst into tears) and begin to love this little one for her own sweet self was something that made me smile wider the deeper in love Callie got with both father and daughter. Yes, they have some issues to face, especially the damage a dead woman has done to a good man. But going along for their journey into a lifetime love was emotional and so worth every moment spent in this world.

If this is the kind of connection you look for in a good romance, then this story and this series would be perfect for you.

I own a Kindle edition of this title.

Good book. Tyler is the single father of a nine-month-old little girl who is the center of his life. After his wife's death six months earlier, it seemed as though everyone in town had someone they think would make the perfect wife/mother. Tyler isn't interested until he meets Callie, who appeals to him in ways he doesn't understand and can't resist.

Callie works as the admin assistant for Bronco Ghost Tours. She recently broke up with her boyfriend, and while at a bridal shower for a friend, contemplates her singleness. She wants the same sort of love she sees her friends finding and wonders if it will ever happen. Town mystic Winona gives Callie some unexpected and mysterious advice, leaving her puzzled about what it means. Callie is drawn to Tyler but gets tongue-tied around him.

I enjoyed the development of the relationship between Tyler and Callie. Drawn to each other from the beginning, issues from their pasts make them wary of risking their hearts. Riddled with guilty feelings about his marriage, Tyler believes that he doesn't deserve to be happy. I ached for him because he couldn't see that his late wife was a selfish woman who brought many of her problems on herself. Tyler made some mistakes, but I felt he was driven to them by his wife's attitude. I loved how hands-on he was with Maeve, but because of his belief that he was a terrible father, he went a little overboard. He frequently felt overwhelmed between his ranch work and caring for Maeve because he accepted only the bare minimum of help.

Callie couldn't resist Tyler when he asked her out. She's interested but wary. Having never spent much time with babies, Callie feels inept initially, especially when Maeve cried the first time she saw Callie. She's also cautious about risking her heart because previous boyfriends walked away so easily.

When Tyler decided he wanted to get to know Callie better, he went all in. I loved the sweet scenes of their time together, both with and without Maeve along. Seeing the differences between Callie and his late wife opened Tyler's eyes to the truth about his marriage. He still fought against admitting his feelings for Callie, preferring to believe they are casual. Meanwhile, Callie falls hard for Tyler but thinks he's still in love with his wife. When Tyler accidentally learns how Callie feels about him, he panics and runs away, claiming things are moving too fast. I ached for Callie, who was blindsided by Tyler's actions. I felt that Tyler earned every bit of his misery. Even after some excellent advice from his mom, Tyler still can't let go of his guilt. I loved how his brother Dean's words to Callie sent her to confront Tyler. I loved his emotional confession and its effect on Callie.

I laughed at the ending scene and Winona's comments to Callie and Tyler. Mystic or not, she certainly saw something back at the beginning that told her they belonged together.

Tyler Abernathy has been feeling total guilt over the death of his wife, and his seemingly inability to really take care of his infant daughter, Maeve. Callie Sheldrick, admin assistant to the local Ghost Tours business, feels out of her depth with babies. But her great grandmother Winona knows all and sees all, and sees that Tyler and Callie belong together, if they will just open their eyes.

Good story in the series.

I enjoyed reading Callie, Maeve and Tyler´s story, but to be honest, I expected a bit more. The baby is adorable and woud have been lovely to continue with the development in her relationship with Callie. Like, almost at the end, you know the baby misses Callie and you´d like to read about their re-acquaintance, but there´s nothing of the sort. Sorry about spoiler!
At times it becomes repetitive, which may be understandable so that the reader can put themselves in the character´s shoes, but... enough is enough. Also, it would have been lovely to continue with their relationship, Callie getting to know his house and both of them meeting both families and planning their future together.
All in all, I liked the story but I think it fell short in those specific topics. As I said, a bit too much of the past and a bit too few of the future.
