Excelent
I bought recently vinyl reissue of this album. And it still sounds as good as when I listened to it for the first time.Great album, the last great in the long list of Nazareth albums. If someone cannot appreciate the melody of the almost all songs of the 2xS album, he is probably deaf.
Love leads to madness - very very catchy opener. Boys in the Band - nice hardrocker. You Love Another - another great song, with some electronic rhythmic background.
And we have here too Games and Dream On - deservedly great hits and great songs. And finally unusual beautiful and mysterious in it's mood Mexico.
Ok, two songs (only two) are clearly weeker - Gatecrash ( schematic rock'n'roll) and Take the Rap.
But the rest is remarkably written, performed and recorded. This is Nazareth anno domini 1982 - you can't expect (and you shouldn't) another version of Hair of the Dog.

2XS is the Naz's uneven production again. Let's try to make a little analyze. Some excellent tracks as like as 'Love Leads to Madness', 'You Love Another', 'Preservation' are in the bad neighborhood with a lot of filler which are the rest of material. Something like that! But I' d like say about another thing. In fact, the singer is really a main spring of every band. Here too indeed, so put your attention on him. Just listen how McCafferty shines here on Dream On! Summary, all the album showcases Dan's vocal talent and unfortunately no more of it.

Surprisingly good, if Yoo know that they were rock dinousurs in 1982 and they previous stitio record was musicaly very poor.
A1 5/5 - one of the best bands pop/rock songs
A2 4/5 - nice rocker
A3 2/5 - very boring song
A4 2/5 - oldies style rock'n'roll that i really didn''t like
A5 4/5 - another good power ballad
B1 3/5 - rocker, but nothing very special
B2 4/5 - very good ballad
B3 5/5 - one of the best songs on record
B4 4/5 - a lot of sinthesizers and drum machines, sounds like something from early-80ties Genesis records, but still good song.
B5 3/5 - boggie rocker , something like their early 1973-74 days stuff. Nothing special, but ok for hard rock fans
B6 1/5 - total filler.
Very good record. Much better half of their 70-ties record.

Coming off the release of the rockin' double live _Snaz_ recording, Nazareth rode the flow of momentum into the studio, when the band recorded tracks for the _2XS_ LP. Behind the proud album opener, "Boys in the Band", Nazareth roll on with confidence. The big intro cut is stoked by the potent, liquor laced vocals of front man Dan McCafferty. Naz shift gears on the acoustic tinged, commercial sounding "Love Leads To Madness", which features a big chorus, while "Gate Crash" is banged out with full on barroom swagger, as John Locke adds rollicking piano work, which accents a riff that is copped from Led Zeppelin's "Bron-Y-Aur Stomp". The group gets political on "Back to the Trenches", a anti-war rocker and the high point of the album. "Take the Rap" and "Preservation" fill out the disc, both of which are upbeat cuts.
