We went here for the first time yesterday 2/21/2021. After reading other reviews I had expected to have to pay 5$/hour for parking. That is not necessarily the case. There are a lot of spaces in the South parking lot that are free for 2 hours. This lasts October 1st to May 31st. I believe this was for the benefit of the tennis club. Be careful where you park because the free spots all have a sign in front of them informing you of such. There are a lot of other spot where you are supposed to pay $5/hour, minimum 2 hours. Some of these will appear to have no signage but you are expected to pay for those.

When we visited it was a very windy afternoon about 4 pm and there was lots of parking. Note that you want to be on the south side of the park and the south side of the tennis courts for the free parking. I enjoyed the park in that it was somewhat remote, not crowded and had cooking facilities. I would not have enjoyed paying $5/hour when most beaches are free near Jupiter where I live.

I also understand they ticket quickly if you run over 2 hours. I guess you can move your car to another 2 hour spot. No guarantees on that.

Beautiful picturesque, ocean front, beach - very private, and quiet. If you enjoy a quiet walk on the beach, enjoy sun bathing, or a good read, this is the best beach oceanfront park in Palm Beach! The park offers restrooms, great parking, and lots of trees, sand dunes, and picnic areas. Reminds you of the islands! A must see for travelers wanting away from the noise and all the public beaches! (I am a local and a great find!) Would highly recommend!

BEWARE:: Free Parking is only from 8-10am

The beautiful large stretch of beach @ Phipps Ocean Park is not usually crowded, as a result of the previous brouhaha between the Town & the non-club-member Tennis Players who park there.

The result was Free Parking in the Tennis Center Lot from 8-10am. Who gets to the beach that early? This amounted to giving the Tennis Players free parking but charging Park- & Beach-users $5/hour. & Daily Court Fees are a mere $4.50-$13.

"Charge One, Charge All" I say.

PARKING FEES:: $5/Hour with a 2-hour minimum is Ridiculous for a beach with -0- Amenities except for restrooms & 2 picnic tables & grills. Parking is metered, and time limits strictly enforced ~ Trust me on this. I have not been ticketed, but almost every visit I have seen the ticket-writer @ work as I was either coming or going. Do not let your time expire ~ here or anywhere else.

Oh, & in 2016 the City spent $172,000 on improvements to the 6 Tennis Courts.

they have people watching the clock to ticket you in one minute after the free park sign expires, and the free park is only for people who play tennis... this must change and they must have some other amenities if they want to charge 60 ticket -- Did not like to see an officer seating there for hours waiting for the meter to pass.

It's pretty clear that Palm Beach does not want "outsiders" visiting their shores. This is one of the two municipal beaches in this locale. One doesn't even have public restrooms. Phipps has restrooms and lifeguards, so that's good. But when you get there you'll see the markings of a place that Palm Beach ignores when it comes to grooming and maintenance. Just about anywhere else in Palm Beach you'll find impeccable cleanliness, grooming, roads, landscaping, and services. But here you'll find DANGEROUS stairs to and from the beach - DANGEROUS because (1) the narrow wooden steps are COVERED in up to 8 inches of uneven sand, step after step is very uneven like walking on uneven and moving/sliding surface that is layered on a staircase, and a very very steep staircase at that. The bottom step is nearly two feet from sand, so you have to jump or throw or fall down. Oh, and getting up is an issue for kids or anyone carrying kids or beach bags and chairs, etc. Look at an aerial view and you will see this is the worse kept beach in Palm Beach. They chose the spot with the least favorable stretch of usable beach and sand, it is loaded with sharp DANGEROUS rocks. About one third is so laden with what looks like a sheet of giant jaggedy rock, so that you cannot walk from the sand to the water without walking to one and or the other of the beach. Also, it is clear form the aerail view that Palm Beach does less to offset sand erosion at this beach vs. all the beaches in front of private homes immediately north and south of it. Oh, and PARKING is $5 PER HOUR on meters. Crazy. Go to Lake Worth municipal instead. Cheaper and far NICER.

Since my posting here, they created more free parking spaces. It is no longer for people who play tennis, as it used to be, but also for visitors. We have 2 hours free parking, and it is awesome.

This is the southern most public beach in Palm Beach. It is in the process of being renourished (rebuilt). Life guards are stationed until 6 p.m. There are bathroom facilities behind the dunes and a small playground on the north side of the beach. The one major downside is the parking fee of $5.00 per hour. It's the same fee that is charged at the main mid-town beach.

This place tends not to get too busy. The only issue can be the parking and make sure you pay or you will get a ticket! Nice for a family but bring your shade or you will get fried all year !

This is a great spot for a larger gathering to have a picnic and a day of fun at the beach! Nearby, you will find the Palm Beach Par 3 golf course, where you can either start or finish your fun-filled day, and also grab a bite on the second floor of the clubhouse, with incredible views of the ocean and the Intracoastal waterway.

There is plenty of room on this beach on the south side of the island to spread out and not feel overwhelmed by the crowds. Beautiful blue water, and lots of sand. There are restroom facilities available. You may have to pay for parking, but I really haven't found any place on the island where parking is free.
