An Underwhelming Collab Considering Their Previous Work
Remember Morgan Tracy? Hobby? No Reason?

It's a shame that when these two finally linked up, we got a project that feels undercooked and rushed. Despite being a big fan of both artists, Posse was the only song I ended up walking away with. I am thoroughly disappointed.

Please try this
This album Imo from song 3–9 is one of the best stretches of music on a single rap album ever for me personally. Im telling you, from batman to Han Han, there is not a single miss. (Please skip the lil pump track on this tape entirely btw)

Zaytoven is fantastic and especially with chief keef. I don’t think people realize how great the production and beat switches are on this. This album is different in a good way. (F what the opp said half the song is the beat, Han Han the beat switches are so tuff, ain’t gonna happen has the beat build for damn near two minutes before beautifully dropping etc.)

I love this album. This stretch Of songs I’m talking about is about 20 minutes, so u really should just try it. Not for everyone, but I think any rap fan could find this as good as I do so why not try. If you don’t like any songs from this stretch tho… I fear u need to get ur ears checked.

Weak filler songs, but this is easily a 4 for me without them. (Check my track ratings) Id argue 4.5 but I’ll be realistic and settle at 4.

Great beats, but this is probably the most boring I've ever heard Keef sound on a record. At some point I'm gonna do a whole Chief Keef discography run and I'll see if my mind changes.

The one thing I sadly didn't get to talk about often while going through Chief Keefs discography is that he was feeling content. During a lot of his career, he was dealing with lot of pressures he couldn't keep up with, didn't want to keep up with, expectations he had no interest in fulfilling, a fanbase that had problems adjusting to his deep dive into experimentalism, drug problems, friends dying all around him, record deals falling apart, the whole shebang. Even when he got more happy and mellow in his music, there was always that melancholic side swinging with that made clear that he couldn't quite make it to that point where he fully felt it. Things seemed like they were getting better though, especially in 2018 when he dropped two of his most acclaimed projects yet (Mansion Musick and BFTD3) and things seemed to stop being so hectic for him, even though his cousin Fredo Santana tragically died. Now it was 2019, and something materialized that was in the works kind of forever, and something that I'm sure that Sosa was very excited about. After two semi-official releases of Keefs collaborations with Zaytoven, now, for the first time completely official, we got a full-length collab between the two. How is it?

Absolutely amazing, to be quite frank. Now, that's because of both artists and how they work together, so let me start with what Zaytoven brings to the table here. Ziggys beats on GloToven are some of his finest in a while, to be honest. Sure, you get the usual modern sparkly Jazz-piano he is currently known for and thick, juicy bass, but there is a bit more going on here than you might expect. For example, Batman uses a fantastic chord progression with plastic-y strings that give the song a more soulful feel. Ain't Gonna Happen is a straight piano-ballad that snaps into being a full-blown banger in the second half. Petty has him making a soft, pretty R'n'B-track with slight Jazz-touches. Posse is driven by Dubstep-warbles, Fast plays with oldschool Hip-Hop scratches and F What The Opp Said has some of the best sounding flutes he ever put on a song. Every song on here is wholly unique, expertly layered and structured, perfectly sequenced into each other and it all bumps. It shows exactly why Zaytoven is one of the very best producers alive at the moment. Now, with a musical backdrop like that, you can't really fail (except if you're called V-Nasty), but what if I told you that Keef is trying to elevate every song even more.

Yeah, in what's possibly his very best performance as a vocalist yet, GloToven sees Keef spit one catchy flow after the other, alternating perfectly between spitting and playing into the vibes, throwing out consistently catchy hooks and singing more emotionally involved than ever before. No matter if he is super aggressive (Posse), disappointed (Petty), contemplative (Fast), sad (Ain't Gonna Happen) or celebratory (What Can I Say), he sounds completely invigorated, motivated and hungry. This has always been the case when working with Zay, because he always pulled out a more focused performance out of Keef, but this goes above and beyond that. Then, the lyrical content, which might not necessarily stray too far from familiar territories with the gun talk, drug talk and eccentric humor, there is a unique edge to this one. Be it him writing a surprisingly heartfelt track about Fredo passing, completely eviscerating 6IX9INE, contemplating over the dangers of the game, making Laughing to the Bank type jokes, his girl not believing him about being at work or him talking about killing exactly you, you can tell there is something different. Keef sounds... content, no matter how difficult his life can get, the shit he's seen and the lows he went through, he sounds happy with where he is today and what opportunities he has. It adds an extra level of confidence to his lyrics, and makes me smile, even when he is talking the most extreme gun talk. Good for him, really.

GloToven is one of the best projects in Keefs discography, one of the best production-showcases for Zaytoven and just one hell of a charming collaboration. This album has the best of both artists, with an inspired producer behind the boards and a freshly content rapper behind the microphone. There's tons of praise to sing about this album (outside of Lil Pumps guest verse), but I'm just happy to hear Keef at a surprisingly stable moment in his life, in full control of what he's doing and able to deal with everything in front of him. You really didn't get this often in his career so far, and it just makes me glad to see. Wonderful work.

Chief Keef Sosa sounds more imaginative, self-confident, cohesive, and yet stranger than ever. His laconic Guwop-esque flow punctures the interstices of Zaytoven’s 3D production, making broad, messy vocal strokes. Sosa focuses dually on the vicissitudes of fame and the ghettoised existence that led up to it, but he also reflects on his affirmation experiences with the Glo Gang and his respected, recognised and essential influence over the contemporary trap-spectacle

Zaytoven is back and better than ever. Chief Keef is... back.

YEAH:
+ No joke, the best beats I've heard from Zaytoven... probably ever?
+ The last 3 tracks are easily the highlights, the absolute best stuff I've heard from both of these artists. "Posse" is the highlight of this project, easily.

NAH:
- I usually know what to expect from Lil Pump but Jesus Christ, that feature was fucking awful. spoiler: click to read
- Producers doing collab projects really gotta have multiple producer tags or it's going to get really fucking old hearing the same kid say "Zaytoven" every 2 minutes.
- Keef is seriously inconsistent. On half the tracks Zaytoven is the only thing keeping me awake, but when Keef does his best he dominates the track.

I DON'T GOT ANYTHING SMART FOR THE NOTES SECTION THIS TIME:
= "This kinda oldhead music doe" -ur_mum_xd
= The songs are short and don't overstay their welcome (neither does the album). This could go in the section for positive things but I dunno if I really want to give that much credit for this.

Very animated project; best they been in a while
Standouts: Old Heads and Regretful Hoes, Aint Gonna Happen, Petty, Han Han, Sneeze
songs added: 0/12

This is the most animated and fun Chief Keef has sound in way, while all being one of Zay's least redundant productions in a while. None of the tracks productions sound like thruways from Trap House 3 (Im exaggeration but you know what I mean) , while Chief Keef sounds more polished than a lot of the projects he dropped last year.

Lines like " you to get F on the report cards now there's F's on on Coat" just show the quick wit and fun Chief Keef use to have on records.

Unfortunately, I can't see myself listen to this at all after the last week or so. If one of my friends plays this in the car sometime in the upcoming month, I might turn up to it, but otherwise I have no reason to return to this, as they was any standout songs or memorable songs to me.

Also, rather than this being a project where they further their sounds, Chief Keef and Zay just elevate back to their old selfs at their prime. They means in theory this is good, but then you get the "Is this 2013?" jokes from loser, and tbh I kinda have to agree. They are just rehashing on old qualities that made them standout.

Best (and probably some of the only) Zaytoven beats I've heard in years. Chief Keef fits like a glove over the wavy bass and irresistible piano rolls. This is a perfect meeting point of his melodic crooning and harder drilling sides. Looks like the start of another great year for him.
