What travelers are saying
- Robert H22 contributionsSunnyvale Farmer’s Market (at Murphy and Washington Streets) is fun for people watching, music, and purchases. There is a huge variety of local farmers who grow and sell vegetables and fruit. Additionally, there are vendors that sell flowers, seafood, meat, bread, honey, olive oil, and ready-made food – Indian, crepes, popcorn, corn on the cob, and more. Plus the coffee stores and restaurants on Murphy Street are open for business.
Sunnyvale Market is open every Saturday morning from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. 52 weeks a year except for holidays. I recommend it.Written January 9, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. There is lots to do here including a museum, dog park, playground, tennis courts, places to play, and places to walk. We had a good time.Written December 10, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- miniFremont, CA203,280 contributionsWe went to Baylands Park in Sunnyvale. This is a very goo park with with lots of space to ride bikes, hike, play, and have picnics.
A unique feature of the park is the Animal Assisted Park area. There are lots of animals to see such as goats, etc.
There is also the pretty to photograph Baylands Grove area of the park.Written April 9, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - bob2018Crawfordsville, IN26 contributionsThis museum is a real gem for learning about the pre-Silicon Valley history of the area. Among other things, the area used to be one of the biggest fruit-growing regions of the country, and next to the museum is a park in a surviving apricot orchard.Written March 15, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - lawtravelmaryland3 contributionsWe were in the area visiting family and wanted to get apricots. Had been to the Olson's store in 2018 just before they closed. Went to one of the stores that carries their fruit, but they were out of stock.
Instead, we drove over to the Olson's barn in the Sunnyvale Community Center, where we found apricots, honey, jams and chocolate. Also had a lovely conversation with Charlie Olson himself!Written January 11, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. But if you're a tree nerd, then definitely go visit the exceptional coast live oaks in between the parking lot (along The Dalles) and Hollenbeck Rd. These are some of the best coast live oak trees in Sunnnyvale.Written November 4, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - NicoleHTSan Jose, CA301 contributionsI have been here pre-pandemic and during the pandemic (safely). Pre-pandemic they had a SUPER fun water feature my son enjoyed with his cousins. During the pandemic we have enjoyed socially distanced/mask on play dates and regular visits. There is a sand pit, several playgrounds (one for the "very" little people and one for the "biggler" little people) and a little pathway that circles the whole park which is great for kids and their scooters/bikes. Parking can be dicey during peak hours, I always go during non-peak hours.Written February 16, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Patricia CSunnyvale, CA32 contributionsThe Tripadvisor photo for this set of trails is not for this set of trails. It's for Palo Alto Baylands Park. The Sunnyvale Bay Trail include numerous trails, some that run along the shoreline and others that go out into the southern end of the SF Bay. One heads southeast to Sunnyvale Baylands Park. (NOTE: Sunnyvale Baylands Park is not the same thing as Sunnyvale Bay Trail!)
Each season brings its own wonderful assortment of wildlife, but most prominent are many native species of birds. I walk there pretty regularly, sometimes with a camera and sometimes with only an intention to walk and enjoy the surroundings. In July, expect to see large gatherings of white pelicans. Snowy egrets and great egrets are year round inhabitants. So are some of the duck species. However, there are migratory ducks and mallards who arrive before mating season and stay until their little ones are able to be independent. Great blue herons and black-crowned night herons are visible from time to time. Some raptors soar overhead, such as Cooper's hawks and, sometimes, peregrine falcons. October through March are the times when there is the most diversity, due to the presence of migratory birds.
Despite what some others have said, it is not rocket science to find the parking areas for the trails. There is a sign on W Caribbean Drive at the entrance to the parking areas. There is a sign for where to turn into the entrance. There is parking all along W Caribbean Drive near the entrance, with signs that the parking is only for those going onto the trails.
Because there is a water processing plant at the site, there are times when you'll want to avoid the trail closest to the shoreline. However, if you can get past the short expanse where water needs to be treated (it's "aromatic"), you can walk clear to the Mountain View shoreline.
(This water management aspect is the reason I've given this experience a "Very Good" rating and not "Excellent.")Written August 1, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
