I think it scared the hell out of me, it does it’s job and the person who made it had fun with it. I like horror in the Thomas community and there should be more.
At first i hated it, but after rewatching it before g1, i actualy liked it.
The biggest problem i have whit s17 and g1 is that we never realy get an explaination for the following thing:
-Why does Thomas have Arms?
-How does Biofusion work, like we know they can move on theyr own, but if steam is used shouldnt that hurt them, forcing them to go to fast?
-Does Thomas work on the railway or not? I know they said he doesnt, but when thomas travels to shed 17, we are told that he uses a the steam he had left to move, so he was under steam, meaning he was working?
-Why are the failed Thomases in the shed bigger than the final engine
-Why did they create Diesel 10 and Diesel, when mavis failed, causing diesel fusions to be forbidden.
-How can Mavis be in the TV-Series when she died on her first start up?
Also, why did they turn thomas into a train? What where they thinking?
"well, time to fuse my kid into a tank Engine because thats the most logical thing to do now!"?
Really the meta logic is questionable as "who the fuck would write children's books/shows that neuter a tragic incident like the "real" Flying Kipper crash into a bad but harmless accident?"
And "why did Henry function correctly when most of the others didn't?"
It is very depressing, I'll say that. The ideas are very interesting, though I wish Paul paid more attention to his timeline because the Railway Series books exist in this timeline, even though this timeline states that bio-fused vehicles didn't come about until the 1980s.
Before people say this 'ruins', the original stories, remember that Paul has gone on record and has stated he's not a Thomas fan. Until this film, he hadn't seen any Thomas episodes since he was a kid, so this wasn't made by someone who had any emotional ties to the franchise.
Originally, I thought it was really scary, since I saw it when I was younger, and it made me so paranoid about Thomas's skeleton eating my skin. But, when I saw it sometime near the end of 2018, I just thought it was neat, the animation and editing weren't the best, but sure, it was cool.
Eh, it’s good, but it’s it’s own side-universe.
Scared me when I was younger
My impressions are as follows:
-babby's first grimdark thomas creepypasta; s'okay, but a bit overhyped. I was in a forum back when Great Race's new international characters were announced where the news was posted and someone just plopped this short in the comments for a reaction.
-The whole "this is the REAL story covered up by children's tales" presentation feels like bullshit. History cleansing the horrors for bedtime stories is the norm but so soon between its 60s-ish setting and the present? I call bull.
-Feels like half the film banks of nightmare fuel from the engines' screaming faces during the unfortunate bits. Seems like a cheap tactic, there.
-Wanting to be turned into a vehicle is part of the slippery slope towards furries, bro. Or at least becoming a DeviantArt regular.
Honestly, on its own and as a whole it's a horror-comedy spoof of the series that I never really felt took itself seriously even when it was doing some legit-ish drama. I think Paul himself knows this and kinda just half-shitposting and half homaging-his-childhood with the film, its sequel and the offshoots (and I know CGI is hard but the low-tier model quality does bring a feel of low-quality charm to it all). But I do kinda wish we could move on from joking about it at random, but its mostly because it's not really my thing with Thomas stuff at the end of the day. I earnestly like the characters and their world and don't feel big into this level of lampooning/reimagining.
I couldn't use anything remotely train related for like 2 years scared the s##t outta me
It was gross and disturbing at times but still a great story and somehow didn’t ruin my childhood
Honestly, I love this series. It’s so creative and original and actually really does a good job at making such a ridiculous concept pretty terrifying. Does it ruin the series? Well, how much more could it have ruined the series than r34 or anything else the internet does. It’s not canon, it’s just a fan video.
Never seen this before, i think its quite funny and i also think its funny people are triggered by it.
SpooooooOOOOky
Watched it two years ago and a week ago
Im still too terrified to watch it. Maybe I will with a friend so I don’t get too spookled.
It’s good I like it
I thought it was really cool yet there are some what the f*ck moments
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=q3g6iSo4clM
It’s both. On one hand, it’s a fun scary video. On the other, it plagues the engines themselves since it has an origin story for Thomas and his friends that makes so much sense it can’t be turned down.
I don't really feel sold on your second point. Even as a person whose used to crazy science with regards to biological transformation in fiction, biofusion just felt like a silly concept (and its execution and weird consequences btw telepathic twins, abandoning cancelled fusions to useless trucks, and keeping skeleton arms inside for no reason being another thing entirely), and growing up with stories from the Railways Series books made just simply accepting they're like our world's trains but can talk and somewhat act on their own & cause confusion and delay just felt reasonable in a very child's parable sort of way. I don't think campfire horror tales can override that.
This traumatized me
Has strange logic and doesn’t work with the og canon
Scared the heck out of me.
watched this when i was six, traumatized me ever since
Deaths you should skip. Gordon, Donald and Douglas, Thomas cranky, Percy, James and Edward and Henry. In fact, it gets bloody and more violent once it gets to Toby, Melvin and Kevin, the crane. Engines that were not killed, were boco. Emily salty duck Bill and Ben who were eventually killed.
