Children’s book that distinguishes reality from fantasy

This is an excellently written children’s book that is all about encouraging imagination but warning against drastic medical actions that to try to make fantasy a reality. As such it is an important perspective that should not be silenced or censored. As a gay father of two children, I recommend this book wholeheartedly for children. It is not traumatic, it is well written and illustrated, and it is engaging. It helps children think about their own bodies and how they want to be treated. The central metaphor of the mother of a human boy considering him transitioning to a walrus highlights the very real and very painful and uncomfortable process that would have to occur in order for him to transition. It is an extremely important book especially given the surgery that some woke parents are recommending on children who are not yet capable of thinking through, let alone deciding, whether to modify their body. This book recommends the more reasonable approach to let children’s bodies alone. It also makes an important allegorical point of the impact that human biological reality has on desires we may have.

Speaking as a gay father, I am concerned that other LGBT individuals, including Amazon employees, have managed to get this book recategorized out of children literature when it clearly is written to help children understand and defend their right to their imagination and their own bodies.

I saw a video where Amazon employees listened to a "customer review" for this book from some hysterical person who clearly hadn't read it even a little. Said "customer" claimed the book encouraged kids to commit suicide. To find out whether there was any truth in this, I read the book multiple times, scratching my head, scouring every word, weighing every image, seeking some hidden symbolism that perhaps escapes notice at first sight. I found no such dark, hidden agenda anywhere. The "customer" who called in with said review straight-up lied.
So instead, what I saw was a very frank and needful message about the horrific nature of "gender transition", packaged with care as a kid's book, which, by the way, kids will enjoy. With children being blatantly targeted by the growing agenda of sexual corruption today, I see no problem whatsoever with a book written for the purpose of revealing that corruption to said children for exactly what it is: complete madness.

The illustrations are cute and funny, the writing rhythmic and upbeat, the author cameos are hilarious, and in the end, it's a book that I think little kids will someday revisit when they've grown and think "wow, I'm so glad someone had the guts to write this."

I had the pleasure of listening to the author speak about this book on a talk-radio show. I immediately ordered 2 copies that very night on Amazon.com but it took several months for me to receive the books due to a billing information error that I had not been previously aware of. Trust me, the wait was well worth it.
The author, Matt Walsh, wrote the story in a way that can help parents and their young children navigate the landscape of the many social and education trends of today's world. It is a book that parents can read with their children and a book that relates to the young children's daily life. This book is easy to understand and demonstrates by example how child-like imaginations and social issues of this generation can often intertwine in a way that parents and their children can understand. A young child's imagination is something that has been 'stunted' by the world we live in and the frequent misinformation entering their little minds about real life today. This book brought back childhood memories of the times that I grew up in where there were no video games, comic book movies or computerized gadgetry to distract our young minds and we were forced to use our imagination while playing with our neighborhood and school friends. Sit in the house all day and watch TV or play video games?? Heck NO, there was a whole REAL world outdoors that we were eager to explore. Not to mention, my parents would never let me spend all day indoors after school or during school vacations unless it were raining out. Matt Walsh has managed to bring the reader back to a simpler time in our nation's history and brought it to life in the 21st century. You and your child will truly enjoy reading this work of art and imagination.

This book teaches kids that it is perfectly normal to be creative and imaginative in their younger days. Johnny is allowed to pretend to be a walrus or a shark or even a panda if he wants. Little Johnny can choose to be a walrus one day and a cheetah the next as kids often go through phases such as these (when I was young I aspired to be a herpetologist). It is the responsibility of the parent to both encourage creativity and instill truth to a child. While a parent can pretend to be a scary polar bear and chase the child around playfully, to affirm the child’s belief they are a walrus and take steps to permanently change the physical appearance of the child through surgeries and chemicals is to commit a lifelong disservice to the child. Chances are, when the walrus phase wears off, or when the child grows older, they will ultimately wish to return to what they were put on this earth to be: a human. Matt Walsh elegantly and sophisticatedly explains these basic truth in this book. A must read.

If you have young children, or anyone close to you has young children, this is an understatedly genius way of helping to equip those children with the ground level tools to navigate the minefield which the gender cult has laid in front of them.
