Hilary Duff’s wedding at home is what dreams are made of. The Lizzie McGuire star confirmed on Instagram that she and singer Matthew Koma tied the knot over the weekend. The couple, who welcomed their first child together, daughter Banks, last October, announced their engagement back in May. Duff, 32, is also a mother to 7-year-old son Luca, whom she shares with ex-husband Mike Comrie.

Koma popped the question earlier this year with an illustrated book about his and Duff's love story at a waterfront park in Brooklyn. "So I get to the very last page and there’s a little piece that I have to lift up. It was an orange. We call each other ‘half-orange,’ like, ‘You’re my half-orange.’ And that’s just an inside thing that no one would understand. But it was a little orange sketched on the page, and I lifted it up and my ring was inside," Duff told Vogue. "It was so sweet, it was really special and really simple, which is very much how we are and how we operate."

The couple's surprise wedding was a reflection of their affinity for simplicity. Here is everything we know about Duff's nuptials.

When did the couple get married?

The Hollywood stars surprised fans by exchanging vows Saturday, Dec. 21.

Where did Hilary Duff and Matthew Koma's ceremony take place?

PEOPLE reports that the couple got married at Duff’s home in Los Angeles. "The wedding was at her house. It was small and low-key. Only family and close friends," a source said. "The ceremony started at sunset and they got married inside the house. When the ceremony was over, guests cheered. The reception was in a white tent in the backyard."

What did Hilary Duff wear as her wedding dress?

The Disney Channel alum opted for a sophisticated number by British fashion designer Jenny Packham. The modern gown was designed with saddle shoulder pads, an open back with 100 buttons and cape-like sleeves that formed a train. "I sat down with my stylist, Jessica Paster, and we went through many designers and looked at their aesthetics, and together we settled on Jenny,” Duff told Vogue. “Her work is so beautiful."

She added, "When we were coming up with the design, it was important to me that it was striking but simple. I couldn’t imagine wearing a big fluffy dress."  The actress completed her bridal look with a Jennifer Behr headpiece that featured little diamonds and pearls. Duff noted that perhaps one day her daughter will want to wear the dress and add to it.

For the reception, the Younger star appeared to change out of her white gown and into a shimmering gold two-piece.

What did Hilary Duff’s daughter wear?

Jenny Packham also designed a white dress with an empire waist, a pink velvet ribbon and an oversized bow for Duff’s 14-month-old daughter, Banks. “It’s the cutest thing I’ve ever seen,” Duff gushed.

Did the bride and groom write their own vows?

Yes. Hilary revealed to Vogue that she wrote her own vows for the ceremony, which proved to be a challenge. “Writing my vows was the hardest thing I’ve ever done. Honestly,” she confessed. “It’s hard to have, you know, five minutes, to tell someone all that they mean to you and all the things you love about them, and why, and you know what it means moving forward, you know, to make this kind of commitment.”

What was Hilary Duff’s hidden message for her kids?

Duff paid tribute to her children with her wedding dress. Inside of the skirt, Duff had her son Luca and daughter Banks' initials embroidered, along with hers and Koma’s. "They’re a part of our ceremony and obviously, the biggest part of our life," the mom of two said.
