Leslie DALE-HARRIS Obituary
Leslie (Doodie) Dale-Harris
October 18, 1924 to January 8, 2013
Doodie died peacefully at home in Uxbridge, surrounded by her adored and loyal tribe: her 3 dogs and cat. She was an irrepressible, creative, talented and entertaining personality - a marvellous hostess, a wonderful wife and a one-of-a-kind mother. Whatever she undertook, she did with boundless energy, enthusiasm, intelligence and panache. From her early days as a young war bride in Toronto hosting a children's radio show on CBC, to her campaigning for various causes - penal reform for women, the Canadian Opera company, the Toronto Zoo - to her later years, breeding Hereford cattle and training horses, nothing and no one could resist Doodie. Her biography of her father Leslie Howard 'A Quite Remarkable Father' was a bestseller and she herself was a quite remarkable mother. She will be greatly missed by her daughters, Carolyn, Lindsay and Victoria, her grandchildren and her great grandchildren. A private memorial service will be held in her memory on Sunday 20th January 2013 at St Paul's Church, Uxbridge. Donations to the Leslie Dale-Harris Fund may be made to the Toronto Botanical Garden, 777 Lawrence Avenue East, Toronto M3C 1P2
