Known for his natural acting and calm demeanor, film and television actor Pankaj Tripathi is an alumnus of the National School of Drama and has predominantly worked in the Hindi film industry. He made his feature film debut in the 2004 romantic thriller Run and rose to prominence through his roles in films like
Omkara (2006), Dharm (2007), Raavan (2010) and Chillar Party (2011). He has also acted in television series like Powder (2010) and Zindagi Ka Kar Rang Gulaal (2011-2012) before making it big in the Tinsel town.
The actor`s breakthrough came in
Anurag Kashyap`s 2012 crime drama series Gang of Wasseypur, where he portrayed the role of henchman Sultan Qureshi. Having worked in more than forty films, his significant acting credits include Dabangg 2 (2012), Fukrey (2013), Manjhi: The Mountain Man (2015), and Masaan (2015). In 2017, Tripathi made his debut as a leading male in Gurgaon and also received a Special Mention at the National Film Awards for his portrayal of upright CRPF officer Atma Singh in comedy drama
Newton in the same year.
In 2018, he made his debut in Tamil cinema with
Kaala, alongside
Rajinikanth and
Nana Patekar. In the same year, Tripathi displayed his acting prowess in films like Stree, Angrezi Mein Kehte Hain. Apart from films, Tripathi has also worked in Amazon Prime original Mirzapur and Netflix original Sacred Games, where, yet again, he was appreciated for his brilliant work. His 2019 projects include
