When Nesta's deepest secret is revealed at yet another tense dinner, she was sent into a spiral, desperate to escape before Feyre demanded answers. For Azris Week 2024. A story with seven chapters, one for each prompt, it follows Eris Vanserra as he navigates an increasingly more confusing relationship with his nemesis-turned-ally.
Eris is haunted by what happened between him and Azriel at the High Lord Meeting, and feels completely overtaken by the male's accursed presence. His usual snarky comments land him in trouble when the furious shadowsinger wraps his raging hands around his neck in front of the whole assembly.
"A mixture of surprise and panic had taken over Eris, sending his body into a wild, meaningless thrashing, but before he could hope to regain control of his limbs, a third, more confusing feeling had entered him. Azriel’s all-consuming presence had sent a shock wave into the place in his chest where air was supposed to be, and in its absence, a spark of joy had lit up the vacated darkness. The recognition of this had so thoroughly bewildered Eris that all hope of fighting had evaporated, and the bewilderment hadn’t left him since."

Victoria Mael, a High Fae, is the daughter of deceased High Lady of Summer Court, and Kallias, the High Lord of Winter Court. Her mother was Nostrus's wife, and she had an affair with Kallias (who at the time was not yet mated.) When she had Victoria, Nostrus found out she was an illegitimate child and cursed her life force to act like a block of ice. This curse caused a chronic illness; her body cannot tolerate heat or warmth for long periods. Victoria cannot find a cure as of yet, and she isn't sure one exists.
Rhysand is forced to find a wife, the only tolerable option is Victoria. They enter an arranged marriage of sorts, determined to stay distant and near strangers. But can they keep their composures?
