The Mel Hoppenheim School of Cinema is the largest university-based centre for the study of film animation, film production and film and moving image studies in Canada. Accelerate your entry into the film industry with microprograms
With courses on weeknights and weekends, our microprograms are ideal for non-traditional students and professionals seeking to get a foothold in Quebec’s thriving film sector. Choose between English (in-person) and French (remote) Screenwriting and Film Producing, and we also offer a Digital Filmmaking microprogram.

Meryam Joobeur's First Feature Film Premieres at Berniale
Who Do I Belong To, written and directed by BFA Film Production alumna and MFA Cinematic Arts student Meryam Joobeur, premiered at the 74th annual Berniale Film Festival in Germany.
Building off themes from Joobeur's 2018 Oscar nomintated short Brotherhood, the film explores the titular universal question through a lens of maternal guilt, incorporating elements of magical realism and pyschological horror while navigating the sense of self.

PPP/RRR – Pier Paolo Pasolini: Riprese, Reprises, Retakes is a project that celebrates the hundred-year anniversary of Pasolini's birth through a series of artist talks, academic presentations, and in-person and online screenings. The aim is to reflect on Pasolini's legacy and afterlife.
