Just hours after ABC News announced Whoopi Goldberg’s two-week suspension from The View, her fellow co-hosts addressed the controversy live on the air… sort of.
Joy Behar opened Wednesday’s broadcast by saying, “You all saw the news. Whoopi will be back in two weeks,” before moving on to Hot Topics (as if that isn’t a hot topic worth discussing).
Watch Behar (barely) address the situation below:
“You all saw the news. Whoopi will be back here in two weeks.”

For those who aren’t totally up to speed on what’s been happening at The View this week, here’s a summary:
Goldberg was suspended for comments she made during Monday’s episode as part of a discussion about a Tennessee school board’s banning of the graphic novel Maus. Goldberg said that “the Holocaust isn’t about race — it’s about man’s inhumanity to man.” Those comments received immediate backlash from the Jewish community and beyond.
She issued the following apology on Monday night: “On today’s show, I said the Holocaust ‘is not about race, but about man’s inhumanity to man.’ I should have said it is about both. As Jonathan Greenblatt from the Anti-Defamation League shared, ‘The Holocaust was about the Nazis’ systematic annihilation of the Jewish people — who they deemed to be an inferior race.’ I stand corrected. The Jewish people around the world have always had my support, and that will never waver. I’m sorry for the hurt that I have caused.”
What are your thoughts on The View‘s latest controversy, as well as the show’s choice not to discuss it on-air? Drop ’em in a comment below.
Yup, saw it too! They were like it is what it is and now, in the words of Ethel Merman, “On with the show!!!
Maybe they didn’t want to speak on Whoopi’s behalf. I’m guessing she’ll address her suspension herself when she returns. She might even say it was the right thing to do and agree with ABC’s decision. I wouldn’t be surprised if she did. Whoopi is not afraid to admit when she is wrong and she understands there are consequences even for mistakes sometimes. If she steps in it, she admits it. I would be surprised if she doesn’t address it when she returns. There’s no need for others to discuss it before then. They will probably all discuss it together. That makes more sense anyway.
With everything that our country faces at this point in time I would not think a mistaken comment would cause this much controversy. We all know Whoopie Goldberg is one of the most intelligent, emphatic, caring and philanthropist person we all know. Other people should learn to walk in her shoes. She made a misquote (which she very seldom does) She has admitted her mistake and apologized for it. we know Whoopie does not back away from her mistakes and will own them. I am sure she will address the issue when she returns.
What we should be addressing is the lunatic that has turned our country upside down.
I agree and she will own it which she did on Tuesday. Plus what more could the co-hosts say? There’s no way they are going to discuss their boss’s decision.
I agree with most of that, but she didn’t misspeak or misquote. She was very fervent in her stance, even when others tried to correct her. She meant to say what she did. She realized after the ignorance in her words and apologized. That is why I called it a mistake. It was an intentional choice, but it was not a good choice and she regrets it. I don’t think she should be suspended, but I don’t know what happened behind the scenes. I’m sure we will get more answers when she is back.
Anyone can be fervent in their stance, because they truly believe what they think is truth/fact, and still be sincerely wrong – which Whoop was. She was correct on the humanity tip but failed in understanding the core reason for that crazy evil man’s deeds.
I fully agree with your statemen.
It’s not right that they suspended her because she’s black, and she knows what racisim is better than anyone who isn’t black.
They suspended her to let the controversy cool off. It was the right move for both her and the network.
That’s so racist. She’s black, for Pete’s sake.
Pam, I totally agree with you. She should be fired. She has been very controversial since she has been on the view.
She has always been controversial which I consider to be one of her charms. The statement she made was true. She just left out one more sentence. The Holocaust was inhumane AND racist. I’m a hard core Whoppie fan Many refer to me as the ‘white Whoopi’s’. Thank you. Why do we let everything upset us so much in our country. She said it. She’s punished. Now drop it and go on to the next one. I was raised in the South during the hard times of the worst segregation. My grand daddy put me in the cotton field with his share croppers. He wanted me to feel what it was like. I DID. My grand parents taught me humility,grace,tolerance,love,work ethics and God.
Some of my best friends have been gay. Various religions have been close in my life and ….. I am a Southern Belle. Let us realize our country is the greatest in the world made so by people being heard and when they are wrong, correcting it. We will get there but not by getting so vast hard against each other. This will be overcome. We will learn from it and hopefully our beautiful Whoopie will be back. (to make some of you mad again)
She said it twice she lumps Jewish under white people. If she actually took time and read one thing about Holocaust then she wouldn’t have said it. Hitler wanted one dominating race called Aryan race= blonde,blue eyed. He held Jewish people as inferior to be believed race. Takes two seconds to read that. Whoopi just as crazy as Adolf was
This is easily the stupidest comment I’ve ever seen on anything.
Intelligent? Emphatic (You mean someone with empathy, right?)? Caring?
Here is a rhetorical question for you: how does an intelligent caring and emphatic (sic) person make such stupid, ignorant, uninformed and un-emphatic (sic) comments like these?
Whoopi’s many things but crazy like that evil man she isn’t. She sees Jewish people from a USA viewpoint which btw the majority of Jewish people check the white box under race on Census forms.
Whoopi’s view was 1/2 correct on the humanity tip. However, she applied USA standard of race (of which majority of Jewish people check white race on Census) instead of applying crazy man/European view on race is why I think she was ignorant and put more weight on humanity versus the core as to why he did it IMHO
Get rid of her…she’s vile
This show needs to be cancelled already. The only opinion they ever discuss is their OWN. Behar used to be funny before she thought she was on CNN.
Bye Ladies, time to move on.
I never understand why people say a show needs to end when people still enjoy watching it. LOL
I Totally Agree
I agree! Plus no one censured Trump for all the horrible things he said and did as President!
You are absolutely correct!
Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube disagree.
Pretty sure they did Pat!
Take a quick moment to think about what you wrote. LOL.
You’re supporting letting anything air as long as some people enjoy it.
Uh, you may also want to take a moment to think about what you wrote. It’s how TV works if enough people watch the show = $$ & is ABC’s #1 daytime show = stays on-air.
Once the show quits making $$ due to not enough people watching it’ll no longer air.
Is your remote broken? If you don’t like it, don’t watch. The ratings demonstrate that other people do. #ItAintAllAboutYou
Girl bye
Is someone holding a weapon to your head to watch it Karen…
Change the channel ma’am…even my 2year old knows that
You are sooooo right, Erin. Who cares what they think? “Off with their heads”!
The Point of the show is their own VIEWS. Who else’s Opinion should they be saying?
Exactly – they are paid to give their opinion.
I’m gonna bet you loved McCain’s opinions on that show, right?
Sounds like the previous occupant of the White House who can never get beyond himself.
I couldn’t agree more!!
What part of the View (a.k.a opinion) that is theirs you don’t get? Rightly or wrongly the show is about their View. Geez
And why would ABC cancel their #1 daytime show.?
I don’t think she had any malicious intent behind her words. I think she had an opinion and put it out there in the completely wrong way with her choice of words. I think that was evident after having a chance to think about things that she apologised and owned her to her mistakes rather than doubling down. Does she deserve suspension? Absolutely as actions have consequences. But as said I don’t think there was any maliciousness intended on her part.
According to progressive activist dogma, intent does not matter. Only the feelings of the aggrieved and offended victim class matter. If Whoopi has “wronged” even one Jewish viewer, then she must resign. Those are the new rules, and we must apply them equally, not just against conservatives.
LOL, sure. Most Jews are a lot more temperate in their response to this than the right-wingers who are suddenly outraged on their behalf… while simultaneously supporting banning MAUS.
Haha. They’ll be temperate about this, but “right-wingers” aren’t the ones who are constantly calling for everyone to be canceled.
You may want to do research. The right definitely ask for boycotts/cancellations. May not work but they do ask. LOL
Folks who might disagree: Janet Jackson, Kathy Griffin, Colin Kaepernick, the US womens soccer team, The [formerly Dixie] Chicks, James Gunn, the cast and crew of the sitcom “Ellen,” Big Bird, every Republican politician who speaks out against the former guy.
again with james gunn though disney knew about these comments he made because he tweeted them years ago, and don’t think that it was some right wing blogger who got him removed from guardians of the galaxy vol. 3, and they had to quickly get him back because the one director they wanted takhira wahiti said no that’s james franchise and oh remember one of the people that led the charge to bring back gunn was chris pratt, who is staunch republican and when chris realized it was something that was in the past that gunn doesn’t believe now
Dude’ That’s a stupid reply
Exactly – one cannot express one’s views, even if they are neither haterful nor evil.
Hitler was a meglomaniac lunatic, who believed ONLY the Aryan “race” was the chosen race and ALL others were inferior. So if you take a madman’s words then everything and one Hitler wronged was a racist act.
I do know that the head of the Jerusalem office insisted that Israel not acknowledge the Ukrainian Hodolomor as a genocide, and only as a “tragic event” – does that mean he should be suspended as well fo mischaracterization?
Where’d that rule come from & who said it? No progressive I know, so please supply feedback. Even conservative Hannity sided w/ Whoopi about this = shocking!
Isn’t that how it works if a person in any way, shape, or form “wrongs” a black person, gay person, any person of color, LGBTQIA’s these days? Why stop there? Horrific things were done to Jews for heavens sake including an ugly number tattooed on their arm if they survived the nightmare.
I agree with you but at the same time how many people have done something similar to this and have been fired?
I am surprised that Whoopi Goldberg did not think that the Holocaust had nothing to do with race. It was appropriate for the network to suspend her for two weeks.
it is important that people are made accountable.
she Did not THE SHOW IS CALLED THE VIEW have to be SUSPENDED
The INITIAL comments Whoopi made were essentially an extremely intelligent, shortened synopsis of what happened. It WAS inhuman. It WAS done to other humans. She never demeaned anyone with that. Suspension came about because she did not repeat what the Jewish people wanted her to say, not because she actually said anything harmful to anyone. I would detest knowing a person who would cancel anyone just for the privilege to do so. And if everyone would just climb down from their ivory tower and actually SEE just the words she did say, they would all agree with her. The Jewish people keep wanting to bring up the atrocity over and over again. They want the entire planet to suffer over and over repeatedly – WHY? The New Testament speaks about loving one another and forgiveness – how can the planet move on if we all keep being reminded of what the Holocaust was and how terrible the Germans were? The Old Testament relates the fact that the Jews would be almost decimated by God’s hand. What is so difficult to believe for them is that is exactly what happened – that God laid that upon their race for what they had done – it was the Jews atrocity toward God which was atoned for. Is someone also wrong to say that because that is what was forecast? When Jesus came he came to speak to the Jews, not Gentiles. They still chose not to listen, even to the Son of God.
“Suspension came about because she did not repeat what the Jewish people wanted her to say, not because she actually said anything harmful to anyone.

~~~~~
Well. This is certainly a take. Obviously, it’s the Jews fault. Isn’t it always?
Forgot to add to previous response… What we fail to forget we’re bound to repeat. How is it possible the whole planet will suffer because we’re being reminded of the evil of mankind & what happened to God’s initial chosen people as well as slavery of blacks in USA? Your “suffer ” comment doesn’t sit well for me. Not all Germans are being blasted, because of what crazy man & his army did to Jewish people. Where’d that come from? Are you of German descent or something? No racial/ethnic group is monolithic.
As an AA Christian I know fully why my Jewish brethren remind us of their experience as a race as well as knowing their biblical history in KJV and some in Torah & why my tribe also reminds our countrymen -not only to stop a repeat, but because hatred is still playing out against these 2 groups in the USA to this very day. Stop the hate, stops the reminders.
Your archaic and deeply disturbing Bible thumping views are precisely why I became SBNR (Spiritual but Not Religious) and my life is infinitely better because of that decision.
I understand your thoughts, for due to the “sad/insane rants of those like her”, i sometimes
have serious doubts about my faith as well! I simply can not understand those with such twisted ideas.
My wonderful late husband felt the same as you my friend, but he had no “label” to explain his feelings.
Your “SBNR” would have fit him to a “T”.
@Nana
My condolences for the loss of your husband. I just have a feeling that he was, indeed, a truly wonderful man and I am sure that your time together was loving and precious. I suspect he and I (along with you, too) might have engaged in more than a few spirited albeit respectful conversations! ❤
Your comments are truly antisemetic it’s us jewish viewers aren’t outraged about the fact whoopi didn’t say what we wanted but her comments are basically rewriting our history. No one should tell us about our experiences and what we been through, just like I can not talk about slavery in the USA and define their experience as racist. If whoopi would’ve went on Colbert and not double down on her ignorant comments and say she’s read up about it and realize it’s is about race and she’s was looking at it with a 2021 American view and that’s wrong it would’ve be done and over with. And we have to bring up the Holocaust because we want to ensure never again means never again. With the rise of antisemetism and the last link to the Holocaust which are our survivor dying off and more of the younger generation believing the Holocaust didn’t happen it’s important to educate people about this so we can ensure that it’s does not happen to us again or to any other race or ethnicity in the world. In my opinion Whoopi lost credibility and would like the view to replace her with someone like Deborah Roberts who is someone with news background as the view had with Meredith veira as moderator when the show started because of her news background.
Preach! Cause the church is saying Amen over here. As an AA, I do feel I can talk about my Jewish brethren experience, but NOT how they feel/think about it. I was so upset when I visited the Remembrance Museum in Jerusalem OMG to Thee! We had to read “Diary of Ann Frank,” in 6th grade but nothing prepared me for what I saw at the museum. Maybe because I’m older I truly understood better vs as a kid reading Ann Frank’s book. A small joy/reprieve from my sadness was the Jesse Owens reference, but it was horrible what they went through. I agree w/ Whoopi’s humanity stance but so disagree it wasn’t racial. I also disagree that you can’t speak on slavery, cause IMO you can if speaking fact. I’m not fully onboard that Whoop’s comments basically re-write Jewish history with much weight, but it definitely lends a hand to this newer view that it didn’t happen at all or it wasn’t about race. The one good thing out of Whoopi’s ignorance as to why it happened is that “Maus” is now on Best Seller list, the young people in TN rallied to buy the book, and now they’ll learn somewhat more what went down. Have a great day sister!
I almost totally agree w/ what you posted, but Whoopi’s summation as a whole was, she placed humanity (that was correct) without understanding the core reason (race) why crazy man did it. Jewish people wanted her to be factual as to why & she placed humanity over race component (the why factor)
Yes, the bible tells us what would happen to them & why, but it doesn’t justify what crazy man did either. They chose not to listen & clung to God’s OT ways only because majority didn’t believe Jesus was the Messiah they’ve waited for. Gentiles no better, we don’t do right either…So and And?
OMG ARE YOU SERIOUS? I ONLY WISH I HAD NOT READ YOUR COMMENTS, FOR NOW I WILL HAVE NIGHTMARES! I WOULD LIKE TO APOLOGIZE TO OUR JEWISH FRIENDS/NEIGHBORS ON BEHALF OF ‘TRUE CHRISTIANS’ WHO DO NOT SHARE THE VIEWS OF THIS ‘TWISTED SOUL”!
I understand what Whoppi said about race, she’s a black woman and she did the comparisons based on her views on race, because when we think about racism, automatically we think racism towards black people not about jews. Nazi killed them because of who they are but race was also a factor. So the cancel culture here was unnecessary and she understood and apologized. Two weeks suspension was too much.
I agree Brunoo. I think Whoopi’s initial comments and thinking reflected skin-color race, rather than genetic race. Many people think of the word ‘race’ in this way. This way of thinking about ’race’ was Whoopi’s understanding at the moment she gave her initial opinion – which is why they call the show The View, by the way. Whoopi wasn’t ever dismissive of Jews or how horrific the Holocaust was, in my opinion, and she was quick to sincerely apologize when she realized she misspoke and misunderstood the Nazi’s viewed Jews as a race. This is one reason that we need to teach our kids ALL of history. I was comfortable with Whoopi’s apology and was surprised by what felt like an extremely over-reactive suspension by the network.
I agree with Brunoo and Bob! I like the way you view the world! Thank you!
It’s clear that was her view on race. She literally said “What race? They were both white.” She understood race to be about skin color based on her own life experiences. I always thought Jewish was a religion. Obviously it’s a race as well, but for whatever reason that didn’t register with me. I thought they were being persecuted for their religious beliefs. I know from other comments that I’m not the only one. While it wasn’t tactful it was a necessary conversation. I think it can be a learning experience for everyone, including Whoopie.
I honestly feel the suspension was right. I lost alot of family in WWII. Their only crime was their religion.
So it was about religion not race?
You may have been absent from holocaust history class or it wasn’t offered in your school. Quick reminder the final solution did not care if you were a practicing Christian or atheist of whatever your religion was or wasn’t. If a person had even one Jewish grandparent, they were deemed “impure” and sent to the gas chambers. They could be the most Lutheran Buddhist Hindu or atheist. If their blood contained as much as one Jewish grandparent (1/4 Jewish blood) off they went. So…. not quite about religion. This was required learning in my high school, I’m surprised it isn’t everywhere.
It was required reading in ALL of my classes from the fifth grade up through college I suggest reading history books about the Holocaust and World War II–yes Sarah they wrote many books about it–I suggest reading some, SMH
Don’t watch the show but see headlines. These women are a bunch of vile hateful women. If anyone on the right had made even a similar statement they would have been fired ASAP and no apology would have been accepted. HYPOCRISY at it finest on tv today.
Wow, Patti, it is fascinating that you use the word ‘hypocrisy’ because this actually does happen on a daily basis with people on the right, like Tucker Carlson, on shows that misrepresent themselves as “news” rather than “opinion” programming. These women are not vile or hateful just because their opinions do not align with yours. Their opinions do not always align with mine either, but always give me something to think about and research further. Opinions are not facts. There is no right or wrong opinion. On the other hand, when programming is presented as “news”, it should be providing facts, not opinions and misinformation. This is dangerous and part of the problem not the solution.
Totally agree. Who on the right has been fired?
The lack of names is your answer.
How quickly we forget. Is the name Roseanne Barr familiar?
Whoopi needs to have her suspension extended into a permanent vacation. The women on The View are mean, vile, hate filled phonies. They screech and complain about everyone who doesn’t agree with them or share their warped outlook on how we should all be living our lives. They are so hyper critical and judgmental over the actions of people they don’t approve of, but God forbid they be open and honest about the messed up comments Whoopi/Caryn said about millions of Jewish people who were murdered in the Holocaust. What did the biggest viper Unjoyful say about it, one short comment? I’ve al ways like Whoopi and have enjoyed her movies, but these women might want to think about toning down the level of judgement and dislike for others.
Whoopi made a sincere apology. Let’s move on.
Did Roseanne and Gina Carano apologize? I homestly can’t remember.
Roseanne doubled down and retweeted a lot of messages defending her overtly racist remarks. Only after her show was cancelled did she finally apologize.
.
Gina Carano flat-out refused to apologize.
.
While Whoopi definitely should have known better, she apologized immediately… and didn’t use the obnoxious “if anyone was offended” wording. A suspension seems an appropriate response.
I guess we must have watched different things. Because my impression of her Colbert appearance was that she wanted to double down on how right she was and let us all know how upset she is that people are upset at her.
With that said, I think suspending her was silly and pointless. I would much rather she sit down with a Holocaust survivor and understand why her own highly subjective understanding of the Holocaust might possibly be incorrect. Education is far more powerful than punishment.
If she was white they would be asking for her head.
Cancel that show. Worthless
Don’t watch. It’s not compulsory. smdh
Whoopi made a sincere apology, but others have been fired for less hateful comments. I love the show, but I’m in agreement that the network needed to act, especially after she doubled down on the comments with Stephen Cobert. I love the show, but ABC did the right thing here.
I honestly don’t see how her comments were hateful.
Insensitive, yes, but not hateful. More like clumsy and thoughtless.
Haha. Practically everything she says is clumsy and thoughtless.
And so what are you doing now by saying that about someone else you don’t even know? You must have looked in the mirror.
She did not double down on her comments. She explained what she was trying to express, but conceded that she unintentionally hurt a lot of people. That’s not doubling down. Doubling down is saying she did nothing wrong and she doesn’t understand the outrage. That people are too sensitive or cancel culture is out to get her or any multitude of ignorant things that don’t involve accountability or an actual apology.
Make that suspension permanent and take Joy Behar with her. They are the most rasist women ever.
They all had something to say about the issue. So maybe everybody should be at home.
Everyone should stop talking period. That way no one will ever be cancelled or suspended. Face it folks what ever you say someone somewhere will be offended. You can’t win in today’s society. Saying hello to a passing stranger could be offensive.
Whoopie Goldberg is a direct representation of ABC/Disney. The fact that she was given only a two week suspension following her horrific description of the Holocaust makes me never want to tune in to any of your shows. This isn’t the first time she has made controversial comments. She must go!
Horrific?? She said that it was an example of man’s inhumanity to man. I agree. But it was also specifically about race. It was a clumsy statement, no need for exaggerations.
This. It’s really disturbing how many people think she did nothing wrong. Thank you!
Should have been fired! It is fair compared to what happen to others.
What others?
Give it’s a rest already, People have nothing better to do with their time but find something to complain about, we are only human and do make mistakes, .
For someone who’s been on a show that’s continuously about controversy, I don’t think what she said was something so malicious to cause suspension. However, it is what it is and had it been the other way around, say something like a white or Jewish person saying that a matter involving Black people was not about “race” you can bet all hell would break loose. So to show equality, and send message that using the wrong words matter, the suspension had to be done. Besides, if it was so offensive wouldn’t Joy Bejar be the first to say so?.
Joy is Italian not Jewish.
As a daughter of Survivors, I hope Whoopi educates herself now on the Nazi’s perpetrated racist ideology, persecution and mass murder of six million Jews. To begin to right her ignorant on-air statements and their ripple effects, she must then admit her error and teach her viewers the truths she learned.
She’s already done that, but she might do more. She already spoke with Jewish groups, She’s already said what the Holocaust was about, quoting the Jewish groups. She’s already conceded that her statement was hurtful and apologized. She has stated that she supports and stand with Jewish people and she always has. She is now being suspended for her ignorant words. What more should she do to right her ignorance?
Whoopi apologized and felt bad she should not be suspended for two weeks.
We are human and make mistakes. God forgives we should forgive.
We, in the left, created this cancel culture that we only use to cancel each other and destroy everything we are about. We no longer fight for a living wage, paid vacations and maternity leave or universal healthcare because we spend all our time policing each other, in order to decide which of us we cancel next over less than perfect wording. That is why we mostly lose and accomplish so little.
Among the most notorious cancel cutures in the history of the United States of America were the Antebellum South slavery culture (including it’s last gasp, the Confederate States of America), and any jurisdiction operating under Jim Crow laws and customs. These were not created or sustained by the American “left”, and were far more destructive than any so-called cancel culture currently in existence.
I think the suspension was too harsh. Are we no longer a forgiving people? She apologized for her misunderstanding.. Of all the hosts on the show. She’s usually the most common sense person. So sorry Sunny but not everything is about black people, or against them.
Granted I agree the black people are treated completely different.
Whoopi at least looks at all skin colors and doesn’t act like blacks are more important. Keep in mind it’s the human race, skin color doesn’t make you a separate race
You R so right. Nazi’s also murdered others beside Jews who didn’t honor their rhetoric. They where racist and also un humanitarian. No empathy!
I’m sure her suspension was with pay! Have a great vacation; wish it was longer!
It was without pay.
She apologized and it was a sincere one. I don’t think a suspension serves any purpose other than to appease people who want to silence others.
The View is on hiatus in my home for two weeks. What they’re doing to Whoopi is BS. She apologized many times. What she said wasn’t that bad. I didn’t think the Holocaust was race either. It’s not like she said it didn’t happen at all as some do.
“I didn’t think the Holocaust was [about] race either. ”
.
Then you are also wrong. It is *undeniable* that Nazi racial theories held that Jews were a different race.
.
Please crack open a history book some time.
There’s a distinction that one must make between race and religion.
Judaism is not a race but a religion, one that is practiced by a great number of people from different races.
Nazi ideology was INSPIRED by (American) racism. It was a bastardization, if such verbiage can be used, of said racism as a means to ‘other’ a group of people they felt were inferior. ‘Race,’ in this context, was a vehicle to manufacture a reason for genocide; most European Jews never saw themselves as members of a singular race.
The Nazi’s mindset and actions toward the Jewish people were more than heinous enough on their own; we don’t need to make something that was never really the case to make it worse.
Context matters, sir.
Wrong—being Jewish is *both* a race and a religion. It’s why “Jewish” comes up as an ethnic identifier on ancestry sites like 23andMe, and why Sephardic and Ashkenazi are themselves *ethnic* divisions of Judaism.
.
Don’t lecture others if you don’t know the facts yourself.
Isn’t race just a social construct, just like gender? When Tim Whately converted to Judaism, was he not, then, a Jew? How about Sammy Davis, Jr.? Are you prepared to say that a black man who converted to Judaism wasn’t really a Jew? You’re a racist if you say that, because he was black.
It is so much more complex than that. There are many Jews who do not practice Judaism and many who practice Judaism who are not Jews. One can repudiate the Jewish religion, but still remain a Jewish person by race. As for the Holocaust, the Nazi’s rounded up the Jewish people by race not by religion. They also rounded up anyone else they deemed inferior such as homosexuals and the mentally ill.
Like many who don’t understand how complex this is, you bring it all around to blaming America’s past. Nazi ideology has nothing to do with America’s past racism. Nazi ideology is much older than that. Do you think it’s something that Hitler dreamed up after seeing what many white people did to many black people in not just America but around the world?
Exactly I’ve never seen such an ignorant bunch of people. The Nazi mandate said that anyone who had at least one Jewish parent what is deemed impure and had to die. 25% Jewish One genetically Jewish grandparent was a death sentence. Are people here truly this ignorant? I’m in my 20s not Jewish but I know this stuff because… um… I didn’t cut class. I just don’t get how adult people can claim to not know this sht.
Putting aside the race of it all, I was more disturbed by “it was white people doing it to white people. Y’all can go fight amongst yourselves.”
While I’m not saying that was malicious, it was certainly incredibly careless. To minimize GENOCIDE as two white groups ‘fighting amongst themselves’ is at best ignorant and insensitive and at worst something more sinister.
I don’t agree with the suspension, it accomplishes nothing. But I do think she should graciously allow herself to be educated on the subject, and she doesn’t appear to open to that based on her interview with Stephen Colbert.
