Overall my experience at Chapel Hill High was agreeable. It has a plethora of students from unique backgrounds which is very eye-opening and provides a safe space for young teenagers. The teachers are very kind and most of them provide students with their individual needs. There are also a lot of AP classes to choose from and unique programs such as firefighting. Unfortunately, it is also very competitive and can provide a lot of academic pressure. As someone who struggles with academics due to my disability and some very bad periods in my mental health, the school did not help in relieving that pressure. I've experienced multiple periods of burnout due to my classes, but that might not be the case for everyone.
I have really enjoyed my time at Chapel Hill. A lot of the teachers are really good and a handful of them seem to really care about what they are doing. The facilities are amazing and there are resources for everyone here, with the arts and CTE department being a great option for everyone. The only setback is that some teachers do not really seem to care and just give busy work, as well as very low standards with the district grading policy. There is a 50 floor and a bad retake policy. There is also a lot of academic competition in the school community, which can be really harmful to students.
Amazing school! So many fantastic opportunities at CHHS. The history and science departments are great. The math department is more hit/miss.
