Mark Steven Schulz peacefully went home to heaven on Monday, November 13, 2023, in Jacksonville, Florida. He was born on December 18, 1959, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to parents Ralph Edward Schulz and Barbara Jean Peters Schulz.

Mark grew up with a love for aviation instilled by his father, obtaining his private pilot’s license as a young teen before he could drive a car. Following high school graduation from Robbinsdale Senior High School in 1978, Mark attended Spartan College of Aeronautics & Technology obtaining his A&P certificate. He graduated in 1984 from Purdue University with a Bachelor of Science in Aviation Technology / Engineering and a Commercial, Instrument MEL Pilot certificate, from the School of Aviation Technology & Engineering. As a professional in the aviation industry, he received his MBA from University of Denver – Daniels College of Business in 2012.

Mark’s love of aviation led him to work in the aviation/aerospace industry with McDonnell Douglas Aircraft Company, Northwest Airlines, Jeppesen, Boeing, and hundreds of other companies. In 2019, he founded #DigitalAircraft, a consulting company and forum created to help the industry to advance and improve efficiencies, supporting digital transformation in the full implementation of digital systems, work processes, applications, and successful deployment of paperless operations. During his years as an entrepreneur, he also was involved in land development and built and managed shopping centers and gas stations in the Denver, CO area.

Mark’s most important passion was faith, family, and people. Mark gave his life fully to Jesus Christ as a young adult and has followed him to the end. This spiritual transformation in his life empowered him to love others with purpose and devotion. He poured himself into others. He enjoyed traveling and meeting people from various countries and cultures. Mark supported and traveled with many missions’ trips around the world, working with orphanages, youth, schools, and communities sharing the gospel of Christ through his church, drama ministry, and other organizations such as Youth for Christ and Mission Aviation Fellowship. Mark had a special compassion for the elderly and disabled. For many years, he drove nursing home residents, disabled individuals, and home-bound friends to church and home again. The verse that he loved and lived by was John 15:13 – “Greater love has no one than this, that a person will lay down his life for his friends.” He loved his family well and included many friends in his family circle.

Mark is preceded in death by his mother, Barbara Jean Schulz, father-in-law, Kiah Mead, brother Darrell Lego Sr. Surviving family include his loving wife, Susan Mead Schulz; 5 children: Craig Schulz, Bradley Schulz, Christopher Schulz, Rachael Schulz, Gabriel Schulz; 4 grandchildren: Tennessee Wacek, Loretta Wacek, Peter Schulz, Edith Schulz; father, Ralph (Gladys) Schulz; siblings: Michael (Jackie) Schulz, Laurie (Robert) Hoeft, Benjamin Schulz, Patricia Roy Nelson; Mother-in-law, Yung Mead; Brothers-in-law: Mitchell (Teresa) Mead and Robert (Betsy) Mead; with many nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
