- Mike L1 contributionI found myself in rural Maine two hours from Sherbrooke with my passbook. I had one day on my schedule available, so I decided to spend a few hours in Sherbrooke. I highly recommend starting at the tourist info center on Kings to get the booklet and map and following the route to see the various murals and neighborhoods along the way. Winter might not be the best time for that, though. I will definitely return, when I have more than 5 hours to spend. You will be able to see the hydro electric plant near the natural history museum. - futtock21London, UK16,439 contributionsA former bank has been converted into a small art museum in Sherbrooke, a small twin in eastern Quebec which judging by the sheer number of shops displaying prints and ceramics not least the high quality of the displays rather punches above its weight in terms of arts and crafts. The Musee des Beaux Arts is no exception housing a permanent collection of mainly late 20th century works by Quebecois artists some collected in a display called Couleurs Manifestes but also two temporary exhibitions of tapestries by Paulette-Marie Sauve and collages of women by Adele Blair. Drove there from our hotel on a Sunday morning early. Nobody was even awake at that point. Parked right in front. Took a walk down the stairs and was able to get some excellent shots. I would say to spend no more than a few minutes here. At times, there are performers that appear in front of City Hall drawing crowds of onlookers. We stopped here for an afternoon tea. Being from the UK I have had quite a few afternoon teas and they did this one exceptionally well. The ladies (mainly local volunteers) were lovely. They served you with a smile and when we went to have a look around the house they were very knowledgeable about it too.
We were quite a large group and they opened just for us as it was usually closed on the day we visited.

Take a quiet walk through the park and greenhouse and see the plant sculptures (a family of frogs) around the pond. The dragon awaits behind the greenhouse where you can also go through the japanese garden. - lschwerzLondon, Canada168 contributionsI attended a gala event at the Granada while visiting Sherbrooke for a conference and had dinner in the beautiful theatre area. The theatre is just lovely inside and it felt as though I was stepping back in time with the ambiance. The dinner service was fine, although I wasn’t as impressed with the chicken dinner as I expected to be, but the theatre setting made up for it.
