Law & Order: Organized Crime is getting another new captain behind the scenes, our sister site Deadline reports.
Sean Jablonski is taking over as showrunner for the NBC procedural’s upcoming third season, just three months after SVU veteran Bryan Goluboff took the reins from Barry O’Brien, who had been named interim showrunner following wake of previous showrunner Ilene Chaiken’s departure in February. (Before you do the math, yes, that’s four showrunners in one calendar year.)
This news comes as the Dick Wolf franchise is gearing up for its first-ever three-show crossover event on Thursday, Sept. 22 (8/7c), which brings together familiar faces from Law & Order, SVU and Organized Crime.
“Unlike other crossovers, this is structured and produced [on an epic scale],” Law & Order showrunner Rick Eid tells TVLine. “It’s not a handoff from one show to the next. It’s really one story that involves all the characters from the different shows.”
Along with Chris Meloni as Elliot Stabler, the cast of Organized Crime’s third season also welcomes back Danielle Moné Truitt as Sergeant Ayanna Bell, Ainsley Seiger as Detective Jet Slootmakers. Two new actors joining the team in Season 3 are Rick Gonzalez (Arrow) and Brent Antonello (Dynasty).

If only Chris Meloni wasn’t such a terrible person to work with… I’M KIDDING OF COURSE. Everyone knows Meloni is much adored by cast and crew! I’m beginning to wonder, though, if the NBC brass is putting undue pressure on all of the Dick Wolf properties this season for one reason or another.
Please do not cancel Organized Crime..such a great show
#1 fan
Hmm really hope it doesn’t change the overall tone of the show which I really love, has gotten stronger and stronger with each season.
The show did need some shake up. I hope it makes it stronger. Plus, it really did need some new supporting cast members.
I’m a #1 fan of Law & Order Organized Crime, love the show and the characters. It would be nice to see some more familiar faces to add a more indepth twist to make it much stronger, like Anthony Anderson, Gerard Butler, Frank Grillo. Thank you for listening.
Despite FIVE show runners over a mere 30 episodes, and lack of coherence within the franchise universe, Law and Order Organized Crime has still been a fantastic show.
Ilene Chaiken set some amazing stuff in motion. She also took real care with continuity, bringing back Ellen Burstyn as Bernie Stabler, plus OG Stabler kids. That casting alone seemed to signal that producers got it.
But something’s really been off in Wolf-land. His Chicago and FBI shows flow easily. But the manner in which he’s botched Benson & Stabler so far is baffling.
The stars know exactly how it should go, but no one bts seemed to have planned logistically or economically how to have these two on screen together for more than 3 minutes a month.
Previous “new” show runner Goluboff implied in a recent interview that this was being resolved, but now he’s leaving with what just 2 or 3 episodes in the can?
What a waste if they never get this sorted out. OC is a GREAT show even with one arm tied behind its back.
sorry but there is something wrong on FBI – Most Wanted.
how many cast members have quit?
you’re right, FBI MW has had a ton of defections. Definitely big problems there. But at least the on-air product is smooth.

Prob with Organized Crime is they’ve got a very established character, finds himself in a new phase of life, yearning for clarity, but the exploration lies with a character ON ANOTHER SHOW. This isn’t Trudy n Mouch in Chicago.
Did they really not foresee logistics and expense of Hargitay and Meloni interacting in each others’ worlds?
Maybe they’ve freed up some money now, cutting Giddish from SVU (bad move), who was earning major bucks, but without a coordinated show-running and writing effort and with people who really know the history, the whole thing’s still gonna feel off.
All I have to say is good luck! Something is going on with Wolf Entertainment and only they know! There hasn’t been this much chaos since both L&O and SVU premiered over 20 years ago!
That they’re replacing Goluboff with Jablonski so soon means that there was something major going on behind the scenes. Sure it may have been as minor as not being the right creative fit, but it feels to me like, wow, there’s a story to tell there.
Vegas has the odds at 7 to 5 that there will be a new showrunner for next season
Probably won’t be a season 4
Give Mr.Jablonski maybe two months! Then they’ll have to pull an EP from one of the other shows to finish the season. Having five SR on a show that’s only 2-3 years deep says a lot! Someone isn’t playing at the playground fair!
At this point, just change show runners every season forward. Why mess with tradition?
The show continues to get even better! – keep doing whatever you’re doing!
OMG! That photo is unflattering! I can imagine him doing a Boris Karloff imitation and saying “Antipasto?” in a deep voice.
Please don’t remove Kelli Giddish from Law & Order Special Victims’ Unit. She is an essential part of the show, in my opinion. She works well with the remainder of the actors and will be greatly missed.
It would also, again in my opinion, to have Christopher Meloni returned to Special Victims’ Unit.
Thank you.
I agree. Keep Kelli. Bring Elliott back to svu with Benson. He needs to calm down with Benson.😍😍😍😍
