- CMJSingaporeDubai, United Arab Emirates349 contributionsJust off the traditional tourist trail. Great views of Brooklyn Bridge, East River and some lovely restaurants (and choices at Time Out) . Many great iconic views but the “tourists” have now found !Written April 10, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - therichastillStevenage, UK2,951 contributionsBrooklyn Heights is a neighbourhood in Brooklyn and possibly the inspiration for a drag queen?
I visited by getting the subway to Brooklyn and walking down to the riverside. There are signposts and google maps helped me along the way too.
The area is very clean and tidy and there are plenty of places to sit and admire the views of Manhattan, Governor's Island and the Brooklyn Bridge.
Highly recommended!Written December 4, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - David BBrooklyn, NY1,489 contributionsCame For Mothers Day as this is one of my wife’s favorite place to visit. The weather was overcast with a few sprinkles here and there but cleared up as the day went on.
The gardens were very nice but if it were sunnier the flower and all that bloomed would’ve made a much nicer experience.
They have a new gift shop so of we got a few things for our apt and got my daughter a moss covered rock that had googly eyes on it.Written May 12, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Analia GStaten Island, NY411 contributionsLush, pristine landscape with fabulous views of NYC skyline. We took the trolley tour and our guide, Marge, was fantastic with stories to share and even a song or two. This is a great historic site filled with beauty and significance. It has free parking, and bathrooms at the entrance. The calendar is loaded with activities throughout the year. Wear walking shoes. The paths are great; and it’s huge so grab a map.Written May 15, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Kittygal 🇺🇦 🌻Los Angeles, CA8,710 contributionsTouring this storied old station had been on my to-do list forever. When I found out the tour would be offered during my upcoming visit, I quickly worked it into my schedule.
Special tours are only offered a few times a year, and are available to members only. This can get a little pricey, but I'd planned for it, and with my senior discount, was soon set for a May Saturday morning date.
The old station has a long and interesting history, but was taken out of passenger service in 1945; it still sees use as a train turnaround, however.
Our docents met us in City Hall Park and we got transistor receivers so we'd be able to hear no matter when the tour went. After an historical introduction, we entered the nearby Brooklyn Bridge station for a ride (on an empty train) into the past.
The docents pointed out the sights of interest, then participants were able to wander around to take photos. Several turnaround trains rumbled past, adding to the atmosphere.
The excursion ended at the beautiful Chambers Street Station, with its high arched, white tile ceilings.
If you enjoy history, transit trivia, or both, I highly recommend this tour. Our group totaled about fifty, and most were New Yorkers, though a number of visitors had also booked. Be prepared to walk, including stairs, so wear comfortable shoes.

For those who remember the early days of the Beatles, this is great fun.
We also saw a beautiful small collection of Japanese ceramics .
We treated ourselves to the temporary and extra cost exhibit of the collection of Swizz Beats and Alicia Keys. This is first rate.
We admired somethings in the permanent collection, enjoyed the largest KAWS I have ever seen in the lobby and had lunch in the cafe.
I should visit more often. The 2 and 3 subways stops ten feet from the door.Written May 22, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. We had 4 beers to try during the tour all great and some of them exclusive to the tour. Deffo worth doing the tour.
After the tour we stayed in the tap room and got some dinner recommendations from one of the other bar staff members which turned out to be also really good. Can’t remember his name unfortunately but I do remember he was a Brazilian guy.Written April 22, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The houses were amazing and so many were decorated. So glad we went!
Personally I wouldn't waste money booking a tour. We saw lots of them walking around but we enjoyed doing it at our own pace without being rushed.Written December 20, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It is near Prospect -Lefferts Garden, Park Slope, Windsor Terrace, South Slope, Crown Heights, and Prospect Heights neighborhoods. There are many wonderful places to visit-- a zoo, a botanical garden, a cycling course, and ball fields. It has Immense historical significance. The park is built on the grounds of the Battle for Brooklyn during the Revolutionary War. There is a monument to the courageous men of Maryland who gave their lives to protect the retreating Patriots soldiers as the British routed the Patriot troops. Survivors ended up on British prison ships near the current Navy Yard area. For me, a place of solemn remembrance.Written August 17, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
