1 9 5 5 – 1 9 5 7 (USA)
26 x 30 minute episodes
Premiering on CBS on 4 July 1955, this Desilu production (a summer replacement for I Love Lucy) featured the adventures of sisters Maggie (a singer) and Barbara (a student) Whiting who lived at home with their widowed mother, Eleanor (Mabel Albertson) in Los Angeles.
Barbara’s best friend at college was Daisy Dunbar (Beverly Long).
There were many similarities between the real lives of the Whiting sisters, Margaret and Barbara, and the roles they portrayed. They lived in Los Angeles with their mother, and Barbara was a coed at UCLA.
The adventures of the two girls and their relationship with their “mother” formed the basis for the stories told in the series.
When the series returned in 1957, Margaret had acquired an accompanist named Artie (Jerry Paris) who was the one new regular in the cast.
The final episode of Those Whiting Girls aired on 30 September 1957.
