What travelers are saying
- LauraDaveJamesSolihull, UK4,826 contributionsThis museum is free to enter. It is housed in a very impressive building. It has a very varied collection from Roman artefacts to 18th century paintings.
We didn’t manage to see everything in one visit, but we particularly enjoyed the works of art.Written June 8, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The host was friendly and knowledgable and the three cocktails we made were amazing.
Would highly recommend!Written June 9, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews. - Adrian S7 contributionsKing's College Chapel is a stunning building and the eye is immediately drawn to it. I decided to attend Evensong there recently on a Saturday afternoon. Due to a mistake on my part, I accidentally got into a queue for an event at a neighbouring College. By the time I realised my mistake, it looked as though there were about 500 ahead of me in the Evensong queue. Consequently I ended up getting shunted into some rather uncomfortable benches up near the high altar and, by the end of the service, I was feeling in need of a chiropractor! However I'm sure that was largely my own fault and could have been avoided by getting in the right place earlier. I was pleased to hear the first lesson read from the King James Bible and announced correctly too. However the second lesson was a rather "interesting" passage from one of the apocryphal gospels. Music was of a high standard as might be expected. Having taken one of my own Prayer Books, instead of using their printed order of service, I was a little thrown when the opening words of the Creed were first recited by the Minister and then had to be repeated by the congregation. Otherwise it was a satisfactory experience.Written April 30, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- SuePontefract, UK8 contributionsThe day we visited was raining but didn't dampen the impact of reading the stories of the fallen and the sight of so many graves and the wall of the missing. You could not fail to be moved. The grounds are kept immaculate. I had not realised that American red cross women were also buried there. Well worth a visit whether you know anything about WW11 or not. There is a chapel and a visitors centre, both beautifully presented.Written May 28, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Martin HStockport, UK641 contributionsThough I like gardens this was my first visit her and they are massive. They are also a useful visit if going from the town to/ from the station as there are entrances at both ends. My only small gripe is that relatively few plants in the open were labelled, or the placing of those labels that were there was sometime ambiguous e.g. midway between 2 different plants but this was a small gripe. Though there is a large cafe there are plenty of facilities, in various locations, for those who bring their own food. I was there for3 hours and only got round about half of it, albeit with some sit downs to take in the atmosphere.Written June 3, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Jsargent87London, UK5 contributionsGreat fun. Lovely wines. And learnt something too! Would 100% do it again. - Sam LChichester, UK108 contributionsAn outstanding collection, displayed very well. And you could "play" with many of the exhibits, too.
Lots of examples and information on computers from say 1975-2000? (Other material, too, but I'd estimate the core thus.)
Well organized, displayed, explained etc.
Good panels about the HISTORY of computing, with an excellent focus on the individuals that Made It Happen, and their role. (This extended WELL outside of 1975-2000)

The Megaprocessor is a special attraction at the museum. It has its own web page which is pretty easy to find. Take "megaprocessor", add dot com.
You have to be a bit of a geek to fully enjoy that, but even if you aren't, it is pretty and impressive.

The museum is VERY "non-geek" friendly. Unless you have been in cave with no electricity for the past 40 years, you will find fun and interesting stuff here.Written May 26, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - George R11 contributionsOn the 29th of May my family and I visited the university museum of zoology. Having visited several museums this year in London and Cambridge this was by far my favourite. The museum was full of old bones, animal models and real pickled organisms! We spent around 1.5 hours exploring the exhibits and also paid a visit to the whale cafe which was a really good quality. The food was a little expensive but it was a nice experience. I highly recommend a visit and it is suitable for all agesWritten May 29, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - alison iCambridge, UK52 contributionsI belong to the MG car club and we annually hold a picnic in the Anglia region..it could literally be anywhere.
After last year's in the very eastern part we were asked to suggest some locations in this area.
I had previously attended a car event here and I thought it would be perfect for our members, with something for everyone.
After some consideration, the location was booked.
We attended on a bright sunny day, 60+ cars attended complimenting the location all day long.. in fact many of literally had to be kicked out at the end of the day...
Great knowledge from the volunteers, and I think everyone enjoyed the reenactments .
I am sure there will be repeat visits..Written June 5, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews. - JSSAmberCambridge, UK627 contributionsHere is the way to enjoy this visit: In the very first room, the guide will point out a way in which many of the objects in the room are tied together and suggest that you should be watching for similar thematic connections throughout the house...do that. You will be sucked into an incredibly rewarding series of realizations about how objects connect, how nature and art connect, how light lays on flooring, how objects and ideas in one room ask you to revisit what you remember of objects and ideas on a totally different floor of the house. It's not a museum. It's an immersive experience that lets you practice seeing the world more resonantly. I felt like my brain had been rewired by my visit.Written April 22, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Charlie JHampshire, UK6 contributionsFascinating experience, full of interesting displays and features.
