Having the pleasure of attending hillcrest high school was rewarding not only to my academic career but also to my personal growth. Through the International baccalaureate program, I was granted the chance at pursuing college level rigor courses and test myself with help from marvelous staff. The IB director Jeri Smith does a fantastic job at leading students and getting them as much college credit as possible. My senior year teachers made the most impact on my high school career and pushed me to be my best version. However, the entire experience was not all sunshine and rainbows as the lack of involvement and very limited options from staff for activities for students often led to a feeling of being trapped. We were not fully immersed into a conventional high school experience as most ideas for games and events outside of school were shot down and there was a very low unity within the grade levels. There was very low school spirit in part due to the lack of participation from students
I have met some of the most amazing people here but it doesnt change the fact that academically, this school is not the best and it sucks. If I could repick my highschool choices, I wouldn't have even considered Hillcrest. The resources are not there and you have to fend for yourself with no support whatsoever.
As a Senior at Hillcrest High School, I can genuinely say these four years have been unforgettable. The staff, activities, and the vibrant culture have made it an exceptional experience. Our commitment to creating a welcoming environment has brought an incredible amount of diversity to our school, making it a truly special place.
