A Decade of "Best of the Best” Recognition
Nationwide Children’s Hospital has been named to U.S. News & World Report’s Best Children’s Hospitals Honor Roll for the 10th consecutive year. The Honor Roll is a top distinction awarded to only 10 children’s hospitals nationwide recognized by U.S. News as the “Best of the Best.” Nationwide Children’s is ranked sixth on the 2023-24 Honor Roll list.
Five-Time Magnet Recognized
The American Nurses Credentialing Center’s (ANCC) Magnet Recognition Program® - which recognizes health care organizations worldwide for their commitment to nursing excellence and innovation - has awarded Nationwide Children’s Hospital its fifth consecutive Magnet Designation. There are just over 600 Magnet designated hospitals in the world, with less than 1% having achieved this honor five or more times.

What makes Nationwide Children's unique and a leader in pediatric health care is its distinctive approach to improving the health of the whole child through. Our singular focus on integrating the highest-quality care with cutting-edge research attracts patients from all over the world — in some cases, for the kind of treatment that is only available here. A Trailblazing Model of Health Equity and Population Health
Because children’s environments have a major impact on their well-being, Nationwide Children’s is furthering its nationally recognized population health efforts to help children where they are: in their schools, homes, and neighborhoods. Investments will be made to provide stable, quality housing, and provide resources for school-based health services, community-wide efforts to reduce infant mortality, and provide economic development to under-resourced neighborhoods.
An Unparalleled Commitment to Behavioral Health
With the opening of the Big Lots Behavioral Health Pavilion in 2020, Nationwide Children’s positioned ourselves as a national leader in pediatric behavioral health. Nationwide Children’s will continue to advance this work by investing in new clinical programs, staff and clinicians, and innovative resources for parents and other providers. The hospital’s experts will also partner with other community-based behavioral health organizations to help address the need for patient access across all systems of care.

A Deep Investment in Genomics
Genomics can be complex and difficult to understand. Simply put, genomics is the instruction set that allows our bodies to function. During the next five years, additional genomics programs will be created to study how DNA changes in patients. This work will help advance precision medicine and allow us to provide a better diagnoses, treatments and understanding. The Steve and Cindy Rasmussen Institute for Genomic Medicine is creating a seamlessly integrated clinical and research lab operation.

The Volunteer Program at Nationwide Children’s Hospital offers a diverse range of opportunities. Whether you’re a teenager, an adult or simply someone passionate about volunteering in a hospital environment, there’s a place for you. From washing toys in the playroom to interacting with children in the Sibling Clubhouse, and even assisting with wayfinding throughout the hospital, our dedicated volunteers play a vital role in delivering extraordinary care to our families. Some assignments involve direct patient contact, while others provide essential support—all contributions are deeply valued!
Leading the Movement to Kids Mental Health
Nationwide Children’s Hospital is the founder and creator of the nation’s leading children’s mental health movement, The Kids Mental Health Foundation. The Foundation was created out of the hospital’s commitment to address the youth mental health crisis – not just for kids in its backyard, but for kids everywhere. And now that work has reached more than 15 million grown-ups across the United States.
