With or without cork?
For hard floors (e.g. tiles, parquet, laminate) we recommend das.Brett with cork carpet pad. This dampens noise, protects the floor and prevents it from slipping away quickly. For soft floors or outdoor use, das.Brett without cork is well suited.
Oiled or "lacquered"?
For home use, we recommend the.board in the oiled version. The natural linseed oil gives the Balance Board a stable protective film and a beautiful feel. The lacquered boards can be exposed to more dirt and are more resistant to moisture (e.g. for use in therapy areas).

das.Brett is a balance board for the whole family. There is therefore only one size (86x28cm), which is equally suitable for small and large people. A board for everyone: open toy for children, fitness equipment for parents and low-threshold balance trainer for grandparents!

das.Brett – how did you come up with the idea?
Balancing games are a fundamental part of children's physical and mental development. Waldorf education began to consciously use elements from nature to support balance training. First, tree trunks were divided and hollowed out. These seesaws were later recreated from molded wood and became known as the “Waldorf seesaw.”
In several development steps, we combined the multifunctional shape of this children's rocker with the flexibility of a snowboard. This makes the.Brett a versatile training device for adults too: the light spring movements strengthen the deep muscles and protect the joints. With das.Brett, a sporty toy or playful sports equipment was created for every age group.
What makes das.Brett different from other balance boards of the same shape?
There are now many replicas that are very similar to our “board” (at least externally). What makes our board unique: It is elastic! If an adult stands on the outer edges, they give way. This flexibility makes our balance board particularly interesting for “big children” (the topic of deep muscles)! With a weight of 2.2kg, the.Brett is also significantly lighter than most replicas!
The use of PEFC-certified wood from North Rhine-Westphalia and the use of selected natural oils and colors as well as regional production in Germany also speak for our balance board.
What is the difference between the board and flat balance boards “on a roll”?
das.Brett enables a new type of balance training that makes it easier for beginners, children and seniors to get started. In contrast to conventional balance boards "on a roll", the.Brett offers a safe training surface without the risk of slipping. This feature makes it ideal for low-risk training and increases safety, especially for insecure or older users.
das.Brett is versatile and suitable for everyday use: It serves as a dynamic standing aid at the desk and thus promotes active standing in the office or home office. The curved shape expands the range of exercises far beyond that of a flat balance board. Balance board for children or adults? Are there multiple sizes?
Our balance board is a versatile play object for children, a seesaw, slide and swing at the same time. For adults, it becomes a training device, an indoor surfboard or an aid for yoga. Das.Brett is also increasingly being used as a movable base on standing desks and in therapy areas.
Our balance board is only available in one version for all ages. The size (86x28cm) is suitable for children and adults alike, so the whole family can have fun with it!
Lacquered or oiled – what can you recommend?
For private households we recommend the naturally oiled board. We use a natural linseed oil from southern German products, which gives the board a stable protective film and a wonderful feel. The grain really comes into its own here! The pores of the wood are not closed (difference to the painted version). This way, if the board should get scratches or scrapes, it can easily be refinished. To do this, it is sanded and a linseed-based worktop oil is applied. However, the oiled version should primarily be used indoors and preferably barefoot.
Strictly speaking, we don't use lacquer for the lacquered version, but rather a hard oil that has lacquer-like properties. This is much more ecological than varnish, but still has the effect of closing the pores of the wood. In contrast to the oiled version, the “lacquered” boards can also be exposed to more dirt (e.g. children with mud boots). They are also more resistant to moisture and can also be used outdoors on a slightly damp meadow, for example.
Note: Oiled is the “naturally oiled” version. All color variants are only available “lacquered”.
with cork strips or without – what suits me?
This decision depends on both the nature of the surface and the type of use.
We recommend the board with cork for hard floors (e.g. tiles, parquet, laminate).
The board without cork is well suited for soft surfaces (e.g. carpet, linoleum).
The cork underlay insulates noise, protects the floor and prevents it from slipping quickly.
We therefore recommend the variant with cork, especially to older or insecure people.
For back exercises where the board serves as a base, the cork strips become a comfortable support surface.
However, if you want to surf sportily, the variant without cork (e.g. on a carpet or a fitness mat) is well suited. Even if the board is to be used as a slide or often taken into the garden - in this case please also note the choice of varnished/oiled - the variant without cork is recommended.
If the decision is still difficult, we also offer to cork the board later.
Can I add cork strips to my das.Brett later?
Unfortunately, attaching the cork strips is not an easy task and requires extreme care. In order to ensure consistent quality, we do not offer cork strips that you can retrofit yourself.
We would be happy to take over this service for you. To do this, you send your das.Brett to us in Leipzig at your own expense. For €20 we will upgrade your board with cork strips and send it back to you.
How do I clean and care for my das.Brett?
Here you have to distinguish whether your board is oiled or varnished:
Oiled: Open-pored materials should be cleaned dry, otherwise the surface may suffer. Milk polishes are permitted, but they should only be used thinly and with a duster. Attention: Microfiber cloths can scratch the surface!
You can always sand and re-oil oiled boards after a few years of use (or if you want to repair scuffs and scratches). It is best to use linseed oil-based worktop oil!
Lacquered: Damp, but not wet, cloths can be used here. The surface should then be rubbed dry directly and without applying pressure.
Note: Our balance boards cannot be cleaned with disinfectant. Because we only use natural oils and water-based varnishes.
Can I use das.Brett outdoors?
The oiled board is intended for indoor use. Of course, on dry days you can also take it outdoors. The painted versions can be used outdoors, for example on lawns. It is very important that you note the following when using it outside:
Do not leave the board outside, especially not overnight. Do not expose it to constant moisture. Moisture and water can damage the wood, cork and the oiled or painted surface. Always wipe the board dry after use.
What kind of materials are used, where is the board made and why does it cost what it does?
We place a high focus on quality and sustainability in production. In order to guarantee high quality, we manufacture the balance board exclusively in Germany.
We only use high-quality and ecological materials for the board.
The beech wood for the board comes from PEFC - certified forestry in North Rhine-Westphalia.
We use non-toxic wood glue to connect the wood veneers. For the finishing we use ecological paints, oils and hard oil boilings from German production. No solvents are used in our workshop.
The finishing is done by hand in our workshop in Leipzig. This means that each das.Brett is unique.
These factors make our balance board a unique, long-lasting product. The board has its price, but it doesn't cost a fortune.
Where do I buy the board? Can I try it somewhere?
You can order the board from our online shop. We also supply retailers in different cities. If necessary, you can also try it there on site. You are welcome to write to us and we will look for a dealer near you.
Is there a risk of injury?
Children really enjoy playing with the board. Please note the following points so that you and your child have a lot of fun with it:
Don't let your child play with the das.Board alone and help at the beginning to get a feel for how to use it.
The surface of das.Brett is smooth, so it should not be used with socks. Shoes with very slippery soles are also unfavorable. To minimize the risk of slipping, use the board barefoot or with shoes with rough soles.
Basically, das.Brett offers a very low-threshold and safe introduction to balance and equilibrium training. Nevertheless, the following applies: The.Brett should be tried out step by step and the exercise intensity slowly increased. Fitness and yoga exercises should ideally be carried out under expert supervision. We also recommend the board with a cork base for older or insecure people. This prevents rapid slipping on smooth surfaces.
Where can I find exercises for the balance board?
You can find a variety of fitness exercises and yoga training units for the board in the instruction booklet that comes with each board. If you have lost this, you can also purchase it later in our shop. You can also find many video instructions for your yoga practice on the balance board on YouTube and at www.brettyoga.de.
How long should I train with the balance board?
The optimal duration of training on the board depends on your individual goals and preferences. There is no one-size-fits-all answer, as both short and longer sessions can be effective. If you carry out targeted exercises to strengthen your muscles or improve your balance, just 10-15 minutes a day can have positive effects. For a more intense workout, you can gradually increase the duration.
But spontaneous movement on 'the board' without a set time limit can also be advantageous. Our tip: music! Let the music guide you and use the balance board to move freely - dance, swing or balance as you please. This type of training is not only fun, but also improves your coordination and body awareness.
Remember: Any activity on the Balance Board is better than inactivity! Even short sessions can make a difference and are a step towards a more active lifestyle.
I like the.board! But will I use it?
That depends primarily on you, of course! Das.Brett is designed to be versatile and easy to integrate into everyday life. If you enjoy exercise and are looking for a new way to enrich your fitness routine or just take an active break during the work day, chances are good that the.Board will become a part of your daily habits.
To ensure that you use the board regularly, we recommend:
- Set realistic goals: Start with short training sessions and increase gradually.
- Integrate it into your routine: Use the board as a break filler or, for example, during your favorite TV show!
- Make it fun: Play your favorite music and experiment with different exercises. Use our instruction booklet and exercise videos!
- Track your progress: Note improvements in balance and strength to stay motivated.
Because of its pretty design and natural look, you don't have to hide the board like other training equipment. So it always remains visible and invites you to use it! We hope you have a lot of fun!
What is das.Fell all about?
das.Fell (the fur) is a soft, comfortable base made of sheep's wool, with which the.Brett becomes a comfortable cradle for small children! But adults also love it.Fur: When used barefoot, the wool creates a pleasant, warm feeling and also stimulates the foot muscles!
das.Fell can also be used as a base for das.Brett if you have the version without cork strips and want to protect your floor.
What do I need die.Rollen for?
The cork rolls are accessories and optional. They are attached to the sides of the balance board and have the following advantages:
- protect the floor when exercises are carried out on the back of the board
- Handles for support exercises: the rollers allow you to hold the board securely in your hand and your wrist doesn't bend
- Comfortable standing on the edges: especially for taller people, the edges can cut in uncomfortably when used barefoot. Here the cork rolls make it comfortable to stand.
What is der.Wackler used for?
der.Wackler (the wobble) is both an accessory to the board and an independent, round balance board. The cork spinning top is an intuitive toy for children and allows adults effective balance training.
In combination with das.Brett, der.Wackler brings even more dynamism to your training. With it you get full body tension - for an even more intensive workout.
Note: To prevent slipping, we recommend the wobble in combination with the board with cork strips!
Open play equipment for children
Our Balance Board allows children to try out free play: das.Brett turns into a swing, a seesaw, a slide or even a sled. The shape of our "wobble board" creates room for imagination. Balance, motor skills, coordination and body perception are trained playfully.
Exercise equipment for adults

Use for rehabilitation and therapy purposes
Das.Brett trains balance and prevents back problems such as scoliosis and tension. The Balance Board is perfect for senor gymnastics and rehabilitation training. Das.Brett is also successfully used in occupational therapy and speech therapy (e.g. voice therapy).

First-class materials
For the production of our Balance Board we use local beech wood from sustainable forestry (origin: NRW / PEFC-certified) as well as solvent-free and food-safe paints and oils from an organic farm in the Swabian Alb.
High quality processing
Das.Brett is brought "into shape" in specialized craft workshops in NRW. Through a special, 11-layer veneer construction, we ensure that the.board is extremely stable (up to 120kg) and yet remains elastic. In Leipzig, we give the boards the finishing touches in loving handwork.
