The Devils Doorway has been hiding all this time?!?!

User Review

I just finished watching The Devils Doorway. I saw that someone mentioned it in a recent post for another movie. I gave it a try and wow, it surprised the hell out of me.

The acting was great, the story was well put together and kept me interested, it was creepy as hell and I loved the location and time it took place in. Fathers questioning mean nuns, creepy children in the halls, statues bleeding from their eyes, women locked up in basements. I highly recommend this movie if you’re a found footage fan.

I have known about this movie for years and I have reached out to the director who offered great insights on the production and her families history with those awful churches

So this was loosely based on some real events then? That’s cool, it’s definitely in my rewatch list. Next time I’ll watch it at night. Haha

The setting was a Magdalene Laundry, where young unmarried Catholic women were sent who were pregnant, promiscuous, or considered a burden on their families. They were cruel and evil places worse than prisons as the young women were no better than slaves to the clergy, who treated the young women like dirt. The movie The Magdalene Sisters shows how awful these places were. The director mentioned her father was a delivery man and what he witnessed upset him.

That is fucked up. Sadly I’m not that surprised…

I like how in the movie the Father addressed that a bit when talking about his faith. So wrong how they were treated

Definitely top tier FF horror for sure.

I enjoyed it. Thought it was one of the better found footage movies. But sometimes watching some found footage will make you feel any effort at all is a good movie. Lol

Right? Like the Occupants, not a great movie but they put a good amount of effort into it, so I really enjoyed watching it. This one though, this was pretty damn good to me.

I really liked this one. Couldn’t remember the name of it for a few years until I came across it again by chance.

That looks good! I’m on it sir, thanks for the reco

Love this movie . Well put together

I get the feeling I saw this years ago, but can’t recall specifics. Guess I should watch it and find out. Thanks!

I was into it until the spooky soundtrack kicked in. Why is there spooky music playing in your “found” footage?!

lol I forgot to mention that. It wasn’t overly done at least, but it did distract me a bit.

This is my #1 pet peeve, along with silly horror stingers. Ruins the naturalism that I’m watching this genre for.

I gave this movie a try, but was instantly taken out of it by the music and the fact that it didn't look like it was filmed in the time it was supposed to be set in. Maybe I'll give it a try as just a straight up horror movie, but definitely doesn't have the FF vibe I'm looking for.

Solid recommendation. Thanks!! 👻

I love this one and the fact that it's based on historical evidence. It makes it so much more amazing
